[Red Mage got another important regain back in the mail about a week ago, and now he's finally ready to implement the next part of his plan to escape Mayfield. Which is to say, volunteering for and completing every stupid random quest the rest of the town is willing to give him. He doesn't have his dice yet back, but with the Rite of Stat Swap

[Mika is kind of irritated that this is the reason why she limped over to the door. This is not important enough a thing for her to be in more pain.]
First of all, I only see half a party, and you two hardly seem Warriors-of-Light material. Secondly, I didn't think adventurers usually got desperate enough to go door-to-door.
[She glances past Red Mage to the paper bag'd mage behind him.] What, is the hospital not giving you enough chances to fatally maim the patients this week?
[Her pained glare switches back to the red mage, and she flaps the note at him.]
Thirdly, any self-respecting gamer doesn't whore themselves out for quests! That's the sign of a noob who doesn't know which end of the spear to stab the bats with, or is too lazy to bother trying. It's embarrassing and makes the rest of us look bad! Did you even try looking for potential NPC encounters? Message boards? Anything?

I never thought I'd run into a rules lawyer in the middle of the Twilight Zone.
All right, all right! [Still looking pained, she holds up a hand.] Leaving the fact that you actually think that experience points are a thing that you can gather in the real world aside, shut it for a second.
Did it ever occur to you that you might have simply missed opportunities over the phone? I seemed to have been hearing plenty of public grievances lately and it might be common for people to ask about the sort of things you could take on as quests. I can't believe I'm actually encouraging this...

[After affecting surprise she lowers her hands again, leaning against the doorframe and trying hard not to wince openly in pain. The thick sarcasm was dropped from her voice, and her ears folded back against her scalp.I seem to recall my arrival was unfortunately ( ... )

As for missed opportunities, yes, I'll admit that there may have been some that slipped by the wayside. An unfortunate consequence of having to attend to this lawyering business the town has seen fit to give me. Although even that hasn't been all bad. It's a steady stream of income, and my Profession:Barrister skill could use a few more ranks anyway.

I believe you, but that is not how it works where I'm from.
"Some" you say. More like enough to have taken care of several lower levels if you'd been able to catch them in time. But if you're here as a lawyer that shouldn't be too bad.
All right. Since I haven't got much longer before I collapse onto the lawn, do you want a job or are you going to stand here arguing about minor nuances of the system with me all afternoon? Because if it's the latter I am going to slam this door in your face and go collapse on something softer than the sidewalk.

I do, maybe.
[She has to close her eyes and regain her bearings because the world really is beginning to spin, with uncomfortable grey spots at the edge of her vision when her eyes open again.]
There's two different levels of this quest. If you manage to find what I'm looking for, I might open up later sidequests. What do you think?
