"Inoo-chan~"
Inoo looked up from his reading to see Arioka standing in front of him.
"I'm sleepy~" the younger boy pouted and stared at him like a first grader staring at his teacher for the answer to a complicated math problem.
"Um...okay..." Inoo wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. "You want to sleep on the couch?" He scooted over to one side to make more room.
"...no," Arioka finally replied after a long silence.
Inoo opened his mouth to say something else, but Arioka beat him to it. "Never mind. Forget it." The shortest BEST member turned around and left the room, leaving behind a very baffled Inoo.
"Why are we having a picnic up on the rooftop?" Inoo wondered as he sat down cross-legged on a checkered-pattern blanket. "Moreover, why are we up here at 12 am in the morning?"
"Because Yuuto got hit by a sudden 'brilliant' idea to have a picnic an hour ago." Arioka muttered grumpily as he yawned. Inoo grinned wryly. Everyone knew about Arioka's problems about waking up in the morning. The youngest BEST member was probably going to be even more grouchy in the morning.
"Cheer up, Dai-chan." Inoo poked his cheeks to get his attention. "Look, someone brought some Pocky up here."
Arioka visibly perked up. "Pocky?"
Inoo reached for a box of chocolate Pocky scattered on the floor, only for his hand to be swatted away by Chinen. He gave the younger boy an inquisitive look.
"That one is for Ryutaro," Chinen explained, pouting slightly.
"Eh?" The youngest JUMP member turned around at the sound of his name, blinking sleepily. "No, it's okay, Inoo-kun. You can take it. I just...want to sleep..."
Chinen scrambled over to the younger boy and gave him a small hug. "Ryutaro's so cute when he's sleepy..." Chinen murmured, making the latter blush.
Inoo left the two of them and went back to Arioka with the box of Pocky. "Here, maybe this will wake you up some more."
Arioka grumbled bad-temperedly, but still pulled out a Pocky stick. "Thanks..."
"Look, minna! We have sandwiches!" Yuuto skipped around with a bundle of triangle shaped pieces of bread with various ingredients stuck in the middle of them.
"Thanks, Yuuto, but why a picnic now?" Takaki asked as he took a piece.
“Because I wanted to treasure the times that I’m spending with everyone by doing something that we will all remember, even years and years from now! Who knows what will happen? We need to take a chance while we still have one, to make enough memories to last us for the rest of our lives!”
“Yuuto, since when did you get so deep? Is that really what you think?” Takaki asked, sounding slightly impressed.
“I dunno,” Yuuto shrugged with a goofy grin on his face. “That’s what they were saying in the drama the other day, and I just memorized the lines. Pretty amazing, huh?”
"He just wanted to have a picnic at night on a rooftop because that's what they were doing in the drama and he thought it looked fun," Yamada clarified.
"Pfft! So that's why," Inoo chuckled with amusement.
"That's still no excuse to wake us up in the middle of the night and drag us out here," Arioka muttered with his eyes closed.
"You didn't have to come. I mean, Hikaru, Keito, and Yabu didn't," Inoo reasoned.
"But Yuuto said you were coming..." Arioka's voice was so quiet that Inoo wasn't sure if he was supposed to hear.
"Eh?" Inoo's eyes widened when Arioka's head suddenly fell on his shoulder.
"Inoo-chan...I'm still sleepy..." Arioka scooted in closer. "Can I sleep on your shoulder?"
"You're already doing that." Inoo flicked his forehead. He suddenly wondered if that was what Arioka had wanted to do earlier. "You could've just said so..."
"Hmm? Said what?" Arioka already sounded half asleep.
"What are you all doing up here at this hour?!" The sudden noise made Inoo jump.
"Yabu-kun!" Yuuto ran up to him. "You got my text message for the picnic? Do you know if Hikaru and Keito are coming?"
Yabu face palmed himself. "I didn't think you were actually having a picnic at 12 am in the morning. If Johnny-san finds out about this..."
"Eh?" Yuuto blinked at him cluelessly.
Yabu looked around and noticed their two youngest members had already fallen asleep next to each other. "Takaki, help me get Chinen and Ryutaro home. Inoo, you can get Dai-chan home since he's already on you." He suddenly stopped and asked, "By the way, how did you all get out of the house?"
"Same as you? We snuck out!"
Yabu groaned. There was going to be a lot of explanations going around.
It was already 1 am in the morning, and Inoo really didn't feel like explaining to Arioka's parents why their son was out so late at night. So he carried the younger boy to his house and managed to sneak in without alerting anyone. He'll think of an excuse as to why Arioka suddenly popped into his room in the morning...probably.
He gently dropped the other BEST member onto his bed and collapsed next to him, feeling totally strained. Arioka stirred in his sleep, causing Inoo to turn his head curiously. Impulsively, Inoo leaned in and kissed him on the forehead. "Night, Dai-chan. Sweet dreams."
