Nibbles

I'm sitting at the dining room table on my computer. The table is covered with a thin but not insignificant layer of pollen. No wonder my throat feels like it wants to implode.

I'm planning a couple of fun things this week: Wednesday night I'm going over to my brother's new house to eat game hens (how fancy). Friday night I'm having people over to my house for a little bonfire party where we will roast hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire (how unfancy, but fun!).

This morning when I woke up, I wanted to schmoozle with my dogs a bit. Kasi got all feisty with me. She has this habit of "putting her teeth" on you. It's not really a bite, because she doesn't bite down, but she opens her mouth and well, puts her teeth on you, or around your wrist, etc. I realize this might sounds scary, but today when she got feisty, she put her teeth on my neck, and for the first time I realized that she's trying to *play* with me when she does this. She and Otto go crazy wrestling with each other and they will often grab each other by the scruff of the neck or other areas (Otto actually does this more than she, but Otto never tries to play with me--he just wants luvins). So when Kasi gets all excited, and starts gently nibbling on me, I'm pretty sure it's because she wants to wrastle around a bit.

Meanwhile, Otto got jealous that Kasi and I were playing and he got up and walked a few steps over and stretched himself across my stomach in full "pet me! pet me!" mode. I rubbed Kasi's belly to calm her down, and then gave Otto some attention, which of course made Kasi jealous again.

Maybe it's the indulgent wiener dog owner in me, but I think it's pretty cute that Kasi thinks I'm a member of the pack and wants to play with me, even if it does involve mock-biting.

fun, wiener dogs
