Limbs like Jello

I leave for Saipan in 2 weeks from today. The time is just zooming by.

I took my mom's Japanese friend all around Frederick and Brunswick on Wednesday. I took her to Costco where she'd never been before. She kept remarking that everything was so big. Including the pizza and ice cream we got at the Costco "restaurant" after shopping.

We drove out to Brunswick and I showed her the tow-path and the canal and one of the locks and talked to her about the history. We went to this neat little coffee shop that is located in a re-purposed church. It's painted green and purple, and the stained glass windows are still there. It's decorated with mis-matched antiques, and it's utterly adorable. I think that might have been the girl's favorite part of the trip.

The cafe is literally right around the corner from my friend Nic's house, but we were there too early to meet up with him which was sad.

On Friday and for a few hours in the morning on Saturday I went to more training. I'm really starting to get a handle on everything. I tried it out yesterday, and I did terribly, but at least I know why, and I learn quickly from my mistakes, so I'm not unhappy about it. I'm hoping today will be better if I can just stick to my plan.

I ended up going to the outlets near Annapolis with drunknmatchmakr and jesnie. I bought 8 of the same shirts in different colors because they are PERFECT and EXACTLY what I was looking for. When I walked into the Gap outlet and saw the table full of pima cotton shirts, I said, "ooo look!" When I saw the sign that said, "50% off" I said, "Oh my God!" as I quickened my step to get to the soft colorful shirts faster. They are deep V neck tees and the colors are nice a bright. I got one black, 3 different shades of green, 3 different shades of blue, and one reddish one. Best part: they were only $7 each!

I was in dire need of some clothes for Saipan. I have gotten a few pairs of shorts, a few tank tops, and now my awesome t-shirts. I still need to get some more athletic style shorts to wear to the beach and when I go on boats and such (yup I'll be going on boats!!).

Ok, so after the outlets we went to Annapolis to eat. It was very crowded and as we crawled through the streets looking for parking, we ogled the Navy boys who seemed so ridiculously young. We managed to find 2 amazing parking spots right near each other and near to the center. We went to Buddy's Crabs and Ribs to eat, and although we missed it when they called us the first time, we ended up seated at the window which we'd originally wanted. The crab dip was delicious, and they had Old Bay in a salt shaker. I was pleased.

We stopped by 2 local coffee places on the way to our car, but eventually had to settle for Starbucks because the others were so slow/crowded.

Sunday I woke up pretty early, especially considering the full days beforehand. Honestly I felt like poop, but I decided yard work would be the best cure. I mowed the lawn which I discovered takes about 2 hours and a tank of gas. I sawed off one more limb from the pear tree and now it looks really great. We cut down and bundled last year's yellowed tall tiger tail grass that is taking over one corner of the house. My mom really wants to take the whole plant out of the ground, but I don't think I'm up to that job. I drove our car down the hill and loaded it up 3 times with wood from the messy pile that's been down there for over a year and stacked it up closer to the house. I cut about 100 stems of daffodils and brought them inside since we're having rain for the next few days. The blooms wilt much sooner if left out in the rain. Now that I write it out, it doesn't seem like that much work, but I wasn't finished until 7pm and only took a short break for lunch. I felt very accomplished, even if my limbs did feel like jello.

annapolis, yard work, saipan, shopping, friends
