Last night I had a hankering to see some of the photos from the trip to Hawaii that I took with my dad, mom, brother and his girlfriend for Christmas in 2005.
I plugged in my old hard drive and looked in the "photos" folder, but that was just random junk and didn't have too much in there.
So I plugged in my new hard drive, but only have photos from 2006.
Oh shit. Are they gone? Really gone? Have I lost a couple years worth of photos?
Sad feelings were settling in as I started to cope with this loss.
Plugged back in my old hard drive, and saw the "iPhoto Library". Duh. Everything was there! Then I stayed up til 2:30 looking at old photos. The ones from Hawaii were fun to look at, but I think they made me sad too. I thought about my dad while I went to sleep.
I looked at photos of my nieces and nephew when they were little babies. My favorites were the one of Alyssa or Caitlin eating dirt off a little hand shovel. She had mud all over her face. I also liked the one of Max trying to eat the dining room table instead of his dinner.
I also looked at a bunch of photos from college days. We had some fun parties and I liked to wear a lot of eye makeup back then.
I browsed through the shots from my stint as a band photographer and realize that I can remember the different shows and venues of the different shoots. I also browsed through the "official band photo shoot" photos, and realized that I have come a long way in terms of my photography skill, or at least in terms of my "eye" for photography. There were so many where I thought, "ah, if I'd just gotten up close, or tried it from a different angle! That shot could have been so much better."
I looked at some dangerous photos as well, but I won't get into all that.
Before delving into photos from the past, I did some arty stuff. No more leaves around, so I sewed some paper. It turned out kind of cute. I'm going to try a few more, and then the plan is to take some photos of the stuff I've been working on lately, so hopefully I'll upload some images sometime soon.
