Random Bits and Pieces

Dec 03, 2008 23:10

Since I'm on a roll with posting tonight, let's make it an even 3.

I cleaned up the apartment tonight. I swept the floors and scrubbed the sinks. I finally took my broken free chair out of my room and broke it down into smaller pieces that would fit into the garbage can.

Stephanie and Matt picked me up and we went out for a bite to eat. We were supposed to go to Ground Kontrol to play some serious pinball after, but Steph was pooped, so they decided to just go home. I walked home since we were in my neighborhood. I thought about going to Ground Kontrol anyway, but it would have taken me quite a while to walk there, and I reasoned that it would be better to head back to my apartment and get some work done since it was still early. Instead I ended up sifting through old LJ posts all evening.

Earlier today a friend followed these rules for her status message on facebook:
Rules:
* Grab the book closest to you. Now.
* Go to page 56.
* Find the 5th sentence.
* Write that sentence as your status.
* Copy these instructions as a comment to your status.
* Don't go looking for your favorite book, or the coolest one you have -- just grab the closest one

I didn't post it, but I grabbed the nearest book to me, a sci-fi novel my brother had given me when I was visiting him in California, and here's what I got, "He eased himself down the hole." I snickered out loud to myself when I read it.

Within the past week or so I have spilled water or tea on my floor 4 times. Once the glass of water was very full and my floor got very wet. I really should stop setting my drinks on the carpet, but even now as I type this, there's a steaming cup of mint tea at my feet.

I started drawing again last night. I cracked open my brand new sketchbook that I got in California and filled a few pages already. I really love drawing and sketching and scribbling and doodling, but it's almost more satisfying to flip through the finished pages and look at all the stuff I created. Maybe I'll squeeze in a few minutes to draw tonight.

When I wrote my year-in-review post earlier tonight, I thought about how I sounded rather dissatisfied with the way I spent the last New Year's Eve. At this point a night playing Scrabble and sipping on sparkling pomegranate juice with my mom sounds rather lovely actually. I wonder what this year will bring.
