I think I've just about reached that point, where I've heard everything.
All the reasons why a franchise is bad, all the reasons why the fans are stupid, etc etc. There's no point in creating a list, because chanses are you've either said it yourself or someone else has said it to you.
Anti-Fans go hand in hand with Fans. Two sides of the same coin.
Yin and Yang, Peanut Butter and Jelly.
In fact, Peanut Butter and Jelly works well for this. Because one can kill people and the other is completely harmless.
The game is trying to figure out which is the deadly peanut butter and which is the harmless jelly. So it's a bit like Russian roulette with peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. Enjoy that mental image, because I am.
Anti-fans and Fans can have the same amounts of psychosis, HOWEVER, I've noticed there is a trend with this. The more someone is an FAN of something, the stronger an Anti-fan they become.
Example.
Riku x Sora shippers hating Kairi.
Episode 4 fans hating all the other movies.
Etc.
It's perfectly fine to not like something, it's perfectly fine to have a different view. However, there's a difference between "Eh~ not really a fan" and a "FUCK THIS SHIT AND IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING FANS" rant everytime you so much as see an LJ icon. Seriously.
If you can't even see a screenshot on Four-chan without being sent into fits of rage then you need a serious slap from reality.
Take a step back.
You know what you're yelling about?
Drawings. Pixels. Splotches of moving colours.
You might as well go to the Louvre and yell at the Mona Lisa. You know what that's going to get you? Kicked out of the Louvre, and in this day an age, eternal humiliation via the internet.
There's a time and place for rants - getting hounded by the extreme end of the fans who can't comprehend that you don't like something, seeing a journal or fan art that is just too crazy for words.
But if the person next to you is drawing Kingdom Hearts, maybe instead of explaining to them for 20 minutes why that franchise is bad you should instead...oh...compliment their work if it's good. Or if you have an eye for it, politely try to help them do a better job. Or better yet, SAY NOTHING AT ALL. And save the rant for your franchise-hating groupies.
Also take a good listen to your rants, if your anti-rant has been unchanged since you formulated it because you've lost touch with the franchise or you never got into it...people notice.
If you hate a franchise because Character X annoys you and you couldn't make it past episode 4, and your anti-rant is allll about this....
Do you realize how dumb you look when the series is at episode 100, and that character died in Episode 6, and you're STILL ranting that that series is terrible because of that ONE character? Maybe if you stopped being a stubborn ass and watched it past episode 6 you may end up LIKING IT.
Or, you can continue to make the same rant everytime until your dying day.
At that point you'll be ranting at the wind, because everyone else will have learned to tune you out. If your rants get so predictable others can RECITE your rant as you rant, then you either need to re-evaluate your opinion or learn to shut the fuck up.
We know your opinion. That's nice. You're contributing nothing to this conversation.
So, while I sit here and play WoW, or BBS, or watch Hetalia, the 11th Doctor, read Naruto and Harry Potter; regardless of how well I like you, if you're going to start breathing down my neck and tell me I need to be playing/watching/reading something else, I'm just going to ignore you now. I'm not even going to waste the breath and energy it takes to say: "Well, I like what I like." Because I've heard your rant 20 times already. If you can't accept the fact I still read Naruto by now, you never will and I'm not going to try and defend myself.
Haters gonna hate. And while you're sitting there hating, I'm going to be over here, enjoying myself. <3
