I'm sorry, but is that Cesare Borgia undergoing emotional angst on my television screen? Cesare Borgia? The same Cesare Borgia that wrote his name in words of blood across the entire peninsula during his father's reign? That Cesare Borgia?
I can deal with the compression of the timeline, the complete absence of subtlety in the political maneuvers, the supposed "chastity" Rodrigo Borgia is going to indulge in now he's pope (yeah, right), even with Lucretia being a ditz. But there is no way my belief can ever be suspended enough to accept Cesare Borgia as a morally conflicted human being.
