1. WHAT DID YOU DO IN 2011 THAT YOU'D NEVER DONE BEFORE?
Became an empty-nester. Celebrated Christmas without one of my kids. Went to Big Bend. Visited Disneyland. Went on (OMFG!) nine vacations/trips. Became a Kindle user and a Blu-ray owner (if not, yet, watcher).
2. DID YOU KEEP YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS, AND WILL YOU MAKE MORE FOR NEXT YEAR?
I don't think I made any last year. This year, I will make one.
3. DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Not close-close. Some of my cousin's kids had babies.
4. DID ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU DIE?
No, but people close to me lost people and pets very important to them. :(
5. WHAT COUNTRIES DID YOU VISIT?

6. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE IN 2012 THAT YOU LACKED IN 2011?
A contract with a builder. Perhaps ... a new house!

Nothing springs to mind ... oh wait! August 14, when my last kid went off to college.

I updated the maps in my Garmin!

Yeah. Didn't get the house plans drawn up.
10. DID YOU SUFFER ILLNESS OR INJURY?
Not worth mentioning. The toenail injury hiking in Big Bend. A mild cold the past few days.

The mandolin slicer.
12. WHOSE BEHAVIOUR MERITED CELEBRATION?
The Houston Texans, making the playoffs for the first time ever. My two kids, being all grown-up and accomplished and (most importantly) happy. Lois Bujold, finishing the Ivan book. Peter Jackson, making my Hobbit dreams come true.
13. WHOSE BEHAVIOUR MADE YOU APPALLED AND DEPRESSED?
The U.S. Congress. Jerry Sandusky (allegedly, of course!). President Obama (on occasion).
14. WHERE DID MOST OF YOUR MONEY GO?
Rice University.
15. WHAT DID YOU GET REALLY, REALLY, REALLY EXCITED ABOUT?
Downton Abbey, my daughter starting college, each of the wonderful vacations we went on, The Hobbit, the upcoming Avatar sequel, my house plans, Ivan, His Booke, my kids going to Japan.

a) Happier or sadder? I'd like to say happier because I feel quite happy but I think I felt like this last year too, so the same.
b) Thinner or fatter? *sigh* Fatter, I'm sure.
c) Richer or poorer? About the same.

Cooking. Drawing up my plans. Exercising.

With my parents and brother's family (but not with my son!!) in Panama City, Florida. Pleasant and low-key, with truly delicious turkey and dumplings.

Twice as many as last year!

Nothing. I wish I had worked harder and made more progress on the house plans. But it was a good year.
