You know how it is when you haven't posted for so long that when you start to post there's just too many things to say, and you give up and don't post? That's been happening to me. But I'm going to give it a shot, in traditional sad face/happy face format:

The thirteenth and LAST Series of Unfortunate Events will be out on October 13

I'm actually quite excited about this, though I won't be able to read it as soon as it comes out, due to my practice of checking the Snicket books out of the library rather than buying them. I'm currently 45th in line. :P

Obviously - as an interpreter of her own books - she *knows* she has enormous power compared to the rest of us ( ... )

Thanks for telling us about these. I've been hearing about Scribbulus a lot recently and now I know I need to go read these. I also appreciate the heads-up on Bujold's new book. It's nice of my flist to keep me up to date on things I'm too lazy or not web-crazy enough to look up myself. ;-)

Great essay -- I think Michel Foucault offers a way to reconcile the intentional fallacy with the stubborn persistence of authors and readers who care what they say about their work in his essay "What is an Author?" -- excerpts here ( ... )
