AKA that goddamn Facebook movie. I resisted, but I finally saw it, and fuck. It was good. It was startlingly good. Like I was falling sleep when the movie started, and it was so good, it woke me up and made me sit up straight. I was, like, riveted. Jesse Eisenberg was REALLY good, imo. I really liked him in Zombieland, but thought that was a fluke. I tend to dislike the whole... category he represents, and yet he was somehow charismatic in an anti-charismatic way, if that makes any sense, which it probably doesn't. The dialogue was FIERCE. The whole movie was funnier than I expected. Stupid Justin Timberlake was more than competent. I have no issue with the portrayal of women in this movie, despite the many criticisms. The movie takes place in Zuckerberg's world, the world of those who share his mentality, and they see women as commodities and objects. I think it's actually a good subtle criticism of how they see women, when you've got the contrast of Erica and the lawyer intern. The sexist pigs are all assholes, and their accomplishments are not seen as mitigating factors for their asshattery. So. IDK.
The score by Trent Rezor was totally awesome. The editing and direction were both extremely well-done. But more than anything, like I said, the dialogue was so goddamn good. That is some really really good writing there.
The following, truly, is one of the best lines ever:
You're going to go through life thinking that girls don't like you because you're a nerd. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that won't be true. It'll be because you're an asshole.
