Why do I keep watching this show? I don't know! 6.10 was such a clusterfuck, and yet oddly enjoyable even as it infuriates me. I think this is the television equivalent of
yesdrizella loving Lexy Regal's fic. I THINK IT'S JUST LIKE THAT. Because SPN makes about as much sense as a Lexy Regal fic.
- I don't get how Sam's ETERNAL AND CONTINUAL TORMENT in hell is better than rescuing him. Sure, he may not be functional, but at least he won't be suffering ETERNAL AND CONTINUAL TORMENT. Like, what fucking equation is Castiel working with anyway? I can get Robo!Sam not wanting the soul back. It's just self-preservation, because he is, in his opinion, a totally functional distinct being. He's not gonna wreck himself for the sake of anybody else. But c'mon, Castiel.
- The Meg/Castiel kiss was the very definition of a writer wanting something to happen and then contriving the reason to make it happen. In a weird way, it's actually hilarious to see how blatantly they did it. We want them to kiss, and we will contrive it make it happen! Though it does annoy me a great deal that Meg just made away with Castiel's angel-killing sword. Um, it's an angel-killing sword? Why are you guys, especially YOU Castiel, so okay with a demon making off with it. AND WHAT'S HAPPENED TO IT? It just isn't an episode of SPN if there isn't giant gaping plot holes such as these.
- I was SO RIGHT about Crowley bluffing. But I am very sad that Mark Sheppard has gone bye-bye, because he is so very very amusing. What a way to go out though! Castiel is MAD.
- There were many moments in which Castiel resembled
Catsiel. HEE.
- I really wish Sampa could've at least said something about Mary being in Purgatory, or that her soul is suffering in some way, to really justify his actions. Because it seems like the assumption right now as to why he is so motivated in this cause is due to that reason. But we're assuming, because the show hasn't told us. I remember reading a really great post once about the fundamental flaw in SPN's storytelling, which is their reliance on withholding information. People keep mum all the time for plenty of reasons, yes, but it makes for a lot of contrived drama. SPN consistently withholds information long past when the revelation would've mattered. They rely on the lack of information to cause tension and drama, which is not in itself a bad storytelling device, but they frequently drag shit out for too long, until the audience has either guessed the answer for themselves or, more usually, came up with a better answer. When the reveal happens, it's always disappointing. Six seasons later, they're still doing the same thing they did back in S1 with the mystery of what John told Dean about Sam.
