So I told myself last night that I was gonna watch just one episode of 24, 'cause I was tired, there wasn't enough time to watch all four.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. IDK why I delude myself like this. Like I can watch JUST one episode of 24 when I've got all four in hand.

HOLY SHIT OMG RENEE. I fucking LOVE hardcore Renee. I love that it's still her, but hardened and raw at the same time. I love that this is her progression into S2 Jack territory, complete with her own version of "I'm gonna need a hacksaw," when last season was her paralleling S1 Jack. Annie Wersching is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing. The way she plays Renee. Oh my god. And holy fuck does she have chemistry with Kiefer. I don't mean in a shipping sense. I don't ship them. Because I love that they are comrades in arms. There needs to be more cross sex comradeship relationships on TV. But man, the show was good and engaging and typical 24 fare, then Renee shows up, her and Jack meet, and BAM. Screen is on fire.

And sadly, we go from Renee, who OWNS, to Dana Walsh, played by Katee Sackhoff, and lord, I hate her storyline already. I am sick of this crap. Not just 24's tendency to have bullshit side storylines involving the personal lives of CTU agents that don't go anywhere. But this whole sexual harassment abuse bullshit. I don't want to fucking see endless minutes and hours of Katee Sackhoff being harassed, being terrified and anxious and worried, for the inevitable very brief payoff of douchebag getting what's coming to him. If we'll even get that. Which is not remotely worth the skeevy I'd have to suffer through. And if that isn't enough, there's even MOAR sexual harassment bullshit from her co-worker, the, of course, typical nerd geek. Just. No. Do Not Want. They play it off for laughs, which is typical male privileged bullshit.

I don't know how they ever managed to craft somebody as awesome as Renee in recent seasons, and then backtrack so horribly with this. THOUGH THE SHOW IS PERFECTLY WELCOME TO PROVE ME WRONG. Do something different with this. Because right now, I've got such a horrible taste in my mouth.

Conversely, Freddie Prinze, Jr. has not annoyed me as much as I thought he would. He's quite inoffensive. Maybe even effective at times. Though it helps that he's a Jack fanboy. Much like how Derek from S5 escaped being an annoying douchey teen by being enormously in love with Jack. Hahaha.

Prez Taylor continues to be awesome. She's living up to the legacy David Palmer left behind. We haven't had a worthy president on this show since him. I also really like Taylor's Chief of Staff. He's hilariously abrasive, but not a total douche, and he shows strength of conviction, which always sits right with me.

CALLUM KEITH RENNIE. I had no idea he's guest starring, though, I'm actually surprised that it took this long for him to show up. CKR will invade your show, sooner or later. AND THOSE SURVEILLANCE PICS OF HIM AND RENEE OMG THEY'RE HOT. HOLY SHIT POWER COUPLE.

Doug Hutchinson was win. Though I am sad that his appearance was brief. Nice to see him getting work.

Jack with his granddaughter is the most precious thing ever. T__________________T Those scenes really broke my heart. And in a lot of ways, made me think this really ought to be the last season. I can't deal with this anymore. Jack getting dragged in over and over. It's not just the unrealistic factor. We've left that behind about three or four seasons ago. But just. Man. This character deserves some peace, some happiness.

With that said. I cackled at the axe to the chest. BWAHA. I marked for the JACK PACK. And I totally squealed, as I always do, whenever Jack does the one-eye squint for precision shooting. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

In conclusion: Renee is awesome. And I'm glad show is finally back. I HOPE THIS SEASON WILL BE A GOOD ONE.
