Legend of the Seeker, 1.22 - Reckoning
That was... oddly epic yet anti-climatic at the same time.
Epic: everything with Kahlan.
Anti-climatic: Darken Rahl's demise.
I'm guessing all that stuff from "Fever" with Rahl saying that he's Richard's brother is just gonna be a story then? Because I was really hoping that'd be for real. :(
I LOVED the swordfight between Richard and Rahl in "Conversion." I was HIGHLY anticipating another one, so it's pretty fucking disappointing that Rahl burned to a crisp from a magic explosion. I mean, c'mon. Seriously. I get that Rahl is oooooooooooh POWERFUL, so I guess Richard doesn't really stand a chance in a straight up fight, but meh. With that said, I do like that it's Richard AND Kahlan who defeated Rahl. This whole episode is basically asserting AGAIN, for the 6000th time, that Kahlan is JUST as important as Richard, despite the name of the show, despite the set-up. They're very much a partnership, which I really appreciate. 'Cause I know people have issues with the Confessor power. I do, too. It's thinly veiled gynophobia. FEAR THE WIMMIN AND THEIR SCARY MYSTICAL POWER. But there's pretty much no way you can adapt the source material and write that out. What I've found awesome about this show is that they took that sexist concept and just fucking subvert the FUCK out of it at every turn. As much as it was fucking tedious, skimming through Wizard's First Rule, I'm glad I did, because then I see all the places where they improved it.
But anyway, back on the finale.
Kara is no Denna. I miss Denna. PLZ COME BACK DENNA.
I experienced a moment of SHEER UTTER PANIC when it seems like Richard may be kinda tempted by Kara. Like, I've been burned by too many shows to trust anything completely. I was TERRIFIED, because Richard would've been TARNISHED FOREVER in my eyes. THANK YOU SHOW FOR NOT LETTING ME DOWN. CRIES.
I am sad that Rahl is dead. I will miss Craig Parker. I've been REALLY enjoying him. He's unexpectedly AWESOME. I hope next year's villain lives up to the standard he has set.
Very glad that the Boxes of Orden are destroyed. Good way to get rid of that loose end.
Is it terrible to admit that Richard is really hot when he's in pain? Uh. Yeah. Oh, and him running around using the Agiel? adf;ljklfdj;ljdsla;jdflkajfd;jfdlkajf;ldjalkfjdaklfjd.
Richard and Kahlan need to bone SO BAD. MAKE IT HAPPEN SHOW.
I want next season omg. I'm really gonna miss this show over the summer.
