My brilliance, let me show you it.

Lately, because my life has been sucked into a downward spiral of work, I've been DL-ing Heroes and hauling ass out of bed early the next morning to watch it. I haven't done this since Rome, and Rome was the first show I did something this crazy for. Trust me, I love sleep like crazy, so it's quite a feat to ( Read more... )

I read that it turns out Moon Bloodgood is alive and also jumping through time like McKidd's character is. I imagine that's a pretty important twist?

Hm, yeah, it is, but it's also one you'd have found out pretty early anyway... they reveal like, halfway into the pilot ep, so yeah. If that is all you know, you're not too spoiled. And honestly I'm kinda glad they went that route, because it would have been contrived for him to have been bumping into Past!Livia all the time when he travels. It's better that they made her a traveler as well so there's an actual reason for her to be on the show.

I think I remember hearing *somewhere* that Black Donnellys, and for that matter, Studio 60, were axed because they were kind of pricey. I think Journeyman probably isn't *too* expensive, but there was a big special effect in the last episode that made me WINCE because I was like "EEK THAT LOOKED EXPENSIVE!" It kind of blows being on pins and needles over whether or not the show is going to get canceled. Yet another reason I prefer cable dramas on like Showtime or HBO -- those get canceled, but they always get canceled *between* seasons. So at least you have a full season.

I don't that it's doing better than Bionic Woman, because Bionic Woman had WAY more hype and a better timeslot, but apparently it's holding its audience better, if that makes sense. Like, Bionic Woman had a HUGE debut, but then people realized it completely sucked and it's dropped off like wo since then. From reading around TWOP, it seems Journeyman's timeslot is known as the "death" slot because it's so late and it goes up against Monday Night Football, so that's good and bad. I'm hoping NBC isn't expecting blockbuster ratings for it, just good enough ratings for the timeslot it's in. I think it probably does suffer from being on so late, because it's easily a family-friendly drama and doesn't need to be stuck late in the night like the racier stuff.

The dissonance is still kinda there, really. Vorenus is such a distinctive and defined character. I mean, remember when we watched Bedrooms and Hallways? We were all TEE HEE OMGWTF VORENUS IS HAPPY AND GAY HAHAHA TEEE WTF WTF WTF. It's a disconnect, because there is only one Lucius Vorenus. And I swear, whenever JourneyDan raises his voice or gets pissed off, I'm all OH SHIT IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN. And then it doesn't, because unlike Vorenus, JourneyDan is not crazy. He has a slight temper, though, which is good, not only because it creates some action but also because McKidd does pissed off so well. It was funny, I read an interview with him and he said he's pleased to be playing a more relaxed guy, that while he loved the character of Vorenus, it was kind of wearing because Vorenus was so perpetually unhappy and sometimes it felt like his face was frozen in a scowl. Hahah. <3Vorenus. He also said in the same interview that people on Rome wanted Lyde and Vorenus to hook up and fall in love in season two, and Bruno Heller and McKidd were all OH HELL TO THE NO! Thank god for that, augh.

IT'S TENSION-FILLED BROCEST. Seriously, Reed Diamond is hot. I've never seen him before, but mrowr. Come to bethy.
