So I do not want to be a luchador, but I do want to design my own costume and parade around in it possibly pretending to be one in union square.
Today started out well. My mom called me on her way into the city and I did dishes and cleaned up and got my laundry out of the dryer in the basement by the time she showed up. I got dressed in the new athletic pants she got hemed(sp?) for me and off we were to financial aid... I didn't learn much except that I will have about 10,000 to pay off when I graduate... which really isn't too too much (Much less debt than I expected going to SVA).
We got stuff taken care of at the registrar (change of adress and all that) And were off to lunch at Pete's Tavern on Irving " The place that O' Henry made famous" says their signs and matchboxes. Before the food came I needed to call Victoria secret to see if I needed to come in, and as usual they did not. When I returned lunch was served and I forgot about the loss of potential income. Pete's has amazing Pastrami and Salmon and Fucaccia Bread. My mother and I each wrapped up half and she left her remaining sustinance to me. As we thanked the waiter and headed back into the heat we decided to drop off the food and head to a Museum. In my apartment I paid my mom $100 of the 250 + 181 that I owe her and remembered that I get free admission to the MoMA with my SVA ID (plus a guest?).
Our next destinatino was back to the registrar to get a replacement ID for the one the security desk at the New Res lost and whatever street it is that MoMA is on. We got there fine thanks to my mom's ancient plastic coated NYC/subway map, but only to find my mom would have to pay 20 to get in (not bad... split, it's the same as if we'd gone to a movie). We stayed in the museum, which I didn't find too impressive except for the photo exhibit, until closing when we were herded into the store next door. After agreeing that everything was cool and way too expensive we ducked out into the rain--where my mother's red umbrella didn't really help because it was pouring like Thunder Cats--and back out into a Starbucks where I learned I loved Cinnimon Lattes and we stole the last of the sample cookies. My mom was still iffy about how to get back to teaneck since she hadn't been in NY since she went to college and worked in the city over 20 years ago and had never had to take a bus out to Jerry's house. I walked her through what took me at least 5 times to figure out without having to ask too many questions about the way Port Authority works and hugged her goodbye with the possibility of seeing her again in a week. I <3 my mom; retiring and selling the house is almost unbearable for her but I know she'll be better once it's done with.
I immediately hopped the N to union square and meet up with Sarah at Gramercy where I grabbed plenty of snacks for watching nacho libre (we should have gotten nachos from 7eleven!!). We had a nice talk before the movie and I ate my mom's pastrami leftovers. The movie itself had an average movie plot.. it was very basic and not complecated at all. And well Jack Black is Jack Black, only this time... he's mexican! JB is no longer as histarical as he used to be, but he's still very entertaining to watch and I thuroughly enjoyed myself.
