This weekend

So Friday was cool for all 7 hours I was awake for it, lol. Cartoon Allies was short but productive. And now we finally have Inkstains going to press (SO EXCITED!) After Eureka 7 in anime club I went with Hilary and Matt to Hilary's apartment in the Spanish Harlem... It's like a parallel universe to NYC... not nearly so glamerous when you look out the window. It's more of a personal NY though. She made Hot Cocoa for us and we drank it at her leopard ironing board table (which matt jostled and spilled hot cocoa on my knee). Then we sat together in Hilary's room and talked about comics and cheap chinese masks and her trip to Japan from the summer. She shooed us out because she and I needed to be up and at the student center by 9 for The Cartooning Dept. open house.

I couldn't really sleep since I'd only woken up at 5pm... I did get about 1.5 hrs of sleep. ^^;;
I was all ready to go to the student center and OMFG!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I couldn't find my casey hat! I was so paniced and I ended up wearing my Orioles hat instead. :/
WE grabbed breakfast before the panel and I ate with one of the guys who ran queer week. It was cool to finally get to know him and I felt like a jerk for having brushed him off a few days ago... I hope he didn't remember ^^;
I was soo nervous about the panel and I was the only cartooning major on there (it was also the illustration/fine arts/interior design open house) and I spoke really fast in the begining but by the end I was really good at speaking and was able to give a lot of good responses.. I hope. I got a few laughs from the phrases I used like going to the west side freshman year being like boot camp. I also had Woodruff pointing over to me to answer questions, lol. After the panel Woodruff gave his speech and Hilary, Laura, and I sat in the back making fun of Tom and the stuff he always says. Afterwards I stood by the exit so that I could be reached by anyone who had questions and talked to a few possible students... I love seeing kids so excited and that bit of jittery as to whether or not they belong. I gave a lot of advice to one kid and I hope he takes it to heart because he's got a good start. It'll be so cool to see kids next year. There was one dude who was wearing a black sport coat with all these anime pins on his lapel. Lunch sucked and I only gave two tours but I did pretty well. Hilary had a slight sanity break down after running into Woodruff during a tour. Poor girl. I meet some other kids I might not have met otherwise like sara(h) who's a crazy illustration major with the best extrovert attitude i've seen, sadly I'll probably never see her again : /
I waited for Hilary since she did the last tour and we walked over to the GW together where we parted ways... deja vous, lol.
I collected my things together and ran over to the DIC (digital imaging center) to trace my self portrait to use monday for inking. I ran over time there and was late getting back to meet my Mom and Jerry for dinner.
I lead them down toward St. Marks and spotted Morgan ahead of me and reverting back to an immature kid I distracted my mom with Citi Habitat to allow space so I wouldn't be seen with my parent by people I didn't have my person impression established with. Having lost MorganI continued them down to Dojo, cheap but awesome. It seemed to be filled with a vibe of punks and lesbians and I wondered if it was the best idea to have brought them there but I saw families there too. My luck we sat a table away from, guess it, Morgan! and a huge table of her friends and maybe some family. I was so embarres half the time and kept glancing over Jerry's shoulder to look at Morgan and dart my eyes away. I played it off as tiredness with my parents and was so relieved when another family sat at the table inbetween. After a yummy dinner my mom had left her hat behind and I ran to get it and swore I would say hi to Morgan, but totally lost my nerve at the last minute and hid behind my baseball cap.
I meant to do homework when I got back but I passed out, waking around midnight to chat with Jess for a bit before flopping back in bed.
Before I passed out the first time I called Hilary to see if my hat was at her place, it wasn't and I went to make dinner and there was my hat on top of the fridge! Don't ask why i'd put it there out of my line of sight as a vertically challenged person.

I woke up several times Sunday... 10 am for breakfast, noon for a shower, and finally around 2 or 3 to get my ass up to go outside to goodwill where I got two awesome ties for $2 each and a 99 cent box of Count Chocula which I'm now debating it's edible quality after talking to Hilary. Since then I've been working on my comic for Principles tomorrow and don't expect sleep. I'll grab a bawls between classes tomorrow : / i went for a walk with jess for some help on a panel and we stopped at Cosmo's to chat about it and other things like possibly being roommates and I found that their hot cocoa is very good. : )
Now it's back to homework.. I have one page left to do... It shall be done!
