Merry Christmas!

I meant to post something last night, but we got too busy. Like yellowseptember, the stockings were hung by the chimney with care. The duck was consumed (and done on my rotisserie which was fantastic), presents exchanged with my brother, weirdlovemaker and his bride-to-be, iambatgirl. Kids were put to bed and then began the long task of assembling all of the goodies. I had no idea that little kid kitchen sets required so many screws. That thing ain't never falling apart. And all assembled while watching the first half of Return of the King. I am nearly done watching the whole trilogy for Christmas. Yes, it's a gift to myself.

We told our oldest daughter about Santa this year. It was one of the hardest things I think I've done. It's good practice for the "birds and bees" conversation as well. We told her back in September. Part of the tradition is that she now gets to help me do the job of Santa Clause. In our house that means she gets to come outside with me and ring the bells while I shout the "Ho-ho-ho! Merry Christmas" bit. She did great! I love every minute of it.

And now it is morning. The tree has been cleared of the gifts that festooned its shady, pine-y underworld and we bask in the glow of its light with tummies full of a fine Christmas breakfast (eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls, and coffee - the Christmas morning usual). Soon we head to the in-laws for more gifts and Christmas dinner. Despite all that's happened these past couple months, I am really enjoying Christmas. Family and friends make up for a lot.

To all my friends on LJ: Merry Christmas. I hope you enjoy every minute of your celebration. It's good to have you as friends.

Oh, and one more thing: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!
