Love. Life.
It is as i start this 6:41am, friday november 24th 2006
I have been awake for something nearing 24 hours
Usually when i utter those or similar words its in some sort of defense for some action ive taken, perhaps ive been grumpy, or snapped at someone, or maybe my patience was just wearing thin and i happend to let some poor unfortunate soul know. That is not the case this day.
Today is special. I dont know why its special, but it is. Im not grumpy, not short tempered, and my patience is as intact as it has ever been.
This is strange considering im just returning home from dropping a friend off at work. That in and of itself is not strange, but rather that id be so patient after dodging black friday traffic and early bird shoppers for the last 45 mins.
And yet it stands. I am not in a bad mood, not in any way shape or form. Quite the contrary really, i happen to be looking forward to my day. My current joy is with the thought that there is someone who cares about me, someone who would do anything for me, and i actually am lucid enough to know it.
And that kids is the moral of today's story. Out there somewhere is atleast one individual who cares for you more than you will ever know, and this is a very good time to not only return the favor, but to let them know that you appreciate their caring.
Family and friends are all too often taken for granted. Well i am here to tell you that they are not granted. They are just as mortal as the thousands of unfortunate Iraqis who have died in recent years. As far as life is concerned, everything you are, everything you hold dear, is expendable.
This isnt all just meant to upset you, but rather give you some perspective. Life is precious, hold it dear, hold it close, and whatever you do, dont ever let go. Life wont wait for you to stop and take a breather, that is one of the many reasons we as people keep friends, they help us when we need them the most. They help us catch up to life, to get back on track, to take care of ourselves when ourselves is what we are least concerned with. If life is precious, truely friends, and any form there of, is no less than equally precious.
My suggestion to you all; Take today to thank a friend for being a friend, and enjoy life.
