Saddam Hussein is dead. He was hanged for "crimes against humanity." My simple question is:
Practically speaking, isn't hanging someone a crime against humanity?
Brutal dictator or not, he was still a human.
They say people were dancing around his body. This is just the sort of thing that encourages people to go on killing, taking revenge and such. And now there will probably be a lot more anger and violence from the Sunni Arabs and the old Baathist loyalist folks.
I think Bush & co are daft if they think people don't realize how deeply they have been involved in this whole Hussein trial farce. Especially after their blatant appeal to Americans' bloodlust by holding the verdict and sentencing right before election day. Thank God it didn't work.
