i had an excellent weekend. i didn't do any real homework, though. oops.
i can fix that.
friday was mostly a personal day. ben and i were supposed to do mini golf, but he got called into work for mandatory training...on sexual harassment. he wasn't so happy. but it's okay, we went on saturday.
saturday was crazy busy. (for me anyway. remember, i'm used to staying at home. i like home.) margaret and i went to chicago celtic fest in grant park which should really just be called irish fest, but that's okay. watched celtic dancers, checked out some interesting vendors, saw really different instruments, and people watched. we saw the cutest family ever. the dad had the whole kilt outfit, and his baby strapped to his chest in the whole outfit, too, and the mom was wearing a sash. margaret and i were hoping to eat there, but the only authentic food options were two irish pubs, one of which we live across the street from. also, we would have had to get in line to buy food tickets first. boo to that.
after that, we met up with kaicy at the renegade art fair in bucktown. of course, we first stopped into the yarn store over there. margaret got some great deals and i picked up a new issue of knit1. the store doesn't seem so expensive to me anymore, but i need to not buy any new yarn in the near future unless it is for weaving. so yes...the three of us wandered around and checked out the different booths. i'm really glad they have something like this, but i still think it could be better. there were way too many tshirt places and people who just stamped something on bulk canvas bags. despite that, there were some really unique places, too. recognized someone who always comes into scooters at a quilting fabric place. also saw some things that people could get sued for because of copyright infringement. margaret and i realized that we can definitely feel good about starting our own business in this arena. we parted ways down there and margaret and i headed home.
ben and i are having the most adorable pseudo-fifties-style courtship ever. saturday night was mini golf, a walk in a park and playing on swings, and then dinner afterwards. i won't go into minute detail because i'm sure for anyone but me, that would be annoying. suffice it to say, though, that i like him enough to want to document every little thing that happens.
shane and i talked on the phone the other night for a long time. usually not our thing, but it was nice. yay for working on reconnecting with people.
i want to go to toys r us tonight to buy aidan another birthday present. so far, i've gotten him a dinosaur umbrella (the cutest thing on this earth).
we go up there for his birthday party this weekend. yay! i went downtown after class today to pick up tempura paint and polaroid film to be prepared.
