[Since Katara's unexpected departure, Sokka has been keeping himself busy. Busy and quiet and absent. Absent from most any place he generally ventures, and engagements he might be expected to attend. He's even spending evenings away from the house, only returning to sleep for a few hour before dawn, and gone not long after sunrise.]

Hi, Aang. Come to help out? You could teach people to dance, maybe. [Not that either of them felt much like dancing, right? But Sokka's trying to be... cheerful?]

[Offline] Awww, Aang ;______;

[angle_on_it]

[Admittedly, Sokka wants to admit he's lonely, but how can he? They're all there, aren't they? And so many more. A few gone, but they're better off, right? She's better off.]

[Sokka sighs, and what else can he say?] I'm sorry I didn't come see you. [He frowns.] It's all so much harder now that she's gone. I feel like everyone thinks she's dead -- or at least acts like she is. She's not dead, she's just gone home. [He's emphatic about that.]

[Offline] <33 The feeling is mutual!

I wish they'd just say that, then. [Because he didn't want to mourn his sister.]

Do you think she wanted to go? It's not like we get a choice, right? Iroh wouldn't have left if he had the choice. And he came back pretty quickly...

I... definitely understand that; I wouldn't want to leave without you guys, either.

[angle_on_it]

I hope so. [He clings to his friend. After a moment, he asks:] Do you think she remembers we're here?

[Offline]

[angle_on_it]

[That's very much where his mind's been, too; Aang had told him once that people forgot when they went home, and it had never left Sokka's mind.] Me either. I don't like to think it can't be avoided because then what's the point? If we all go home, none of us will remember any of this eventually.

No, there has to be a way. I hope it's as simple as a choice, but I'll bet it's not.

[angle_on_it]

[Sokka nods.] I'm going to do the same, I think. [Because he doesn't like any of the alternatives.]

[He nods again, this time more affirming.] Everything will work out in the end.

Yeah, you're right, it has to. [He cracks a bit of a smile.]
