Moving -- Some Practical Questions

I have to admit that I'm still hoping things will get better right here on LJ. :/ I know, that hope is becoming more and more forlorn and less and less realistic. Not only does LJ not seem to be capable of verbalizing (or textualizing) its actual policies in a clear and unambiguous manner, it also seems to be doing a bit of thrashing when it ( Read more... )

Thanks for assuming that I'm only involved in LOTRips...I'm involved in a wide variety of things and not all of them are on my Flist. I'm not involved in the joint-fandom communitites so I can only go by what I see on my journeys and I think I have a fair cross-section of fandoms, and non-fandoms to go by. I know it's not just the HP fandom being affected and not only them thinking about moving but on a whole I haven't seen any mass panic from any quarters. If there has been then I'm thankful I've missed it because I'd rather listen to level headed people discuss the issues than people freaking out and saying nasty things.

And I was never calling anyone from the HP fandom a drama queen (there was an *and* in there) I have come across people that I love and adore but they get way too into these sorts of things for their own good and enjoy stiring the pot to try and make things worse for their own enjoyment. (I'm sure you've run into those types of people as well) The HP fandom, as far as the groups and individuals that I've come into contact in, has been remarkably calm and collected about things all things considered and I tip my hat to them. (Maybe it's going on beyond locked doors but that in itself is a refreshing change of pace from some fandom who air all their dirty laundry in public)

I'm not even labeling Recent Events as Drama because I understand why people are concerned and upset even if I choose to live with my head in the sand about it at the moment.

I personally prefer to not be involved in full-out fannish things. I'm a busy person so I'd rather go in search of the things I want instead of having everything heaped at my feet for me to sift through. Fandom can be fun and exillerating but it can also be a catty and unfriendly place and I'd rather not have to deal with that if it's not necessary. *shrug*

And now I'll go back to living with my head in the sand since I always seem to get into trouble when I don't... :-P

If I misunderstood then I apologize. :/ I think we both agree that there are issues but that there are also people who are exaggerating the immediate danger, and beyond that it's mainly a matter of individual interpretation. I'm sorry for rambling at you; I tend to get too intense myself at times. [sigh]

I'm sorry...I'm supposed to have this self-imposed...no making in depth comment before 8am and I broke the rule and jumped the gun a bit. I'm always doing that...it's why I try to keep my head in the sand....
