Episode 1: One Year Later
A/N - So I know I have been MIA for a LONG but I really needed to experience Real Life again. Not saying I'm turning my back from PepSi and LHDP but with the recently articles coming out about LHDP (new characters, storylines, Marian Aguliera definitely not coming back), I just had to get away.
Last night, I was re-watching PepSi clips when a part of me die. I don't think anyone who had a strong connection to the PepSi Storyline can say a piece of them didn't die. But when watching them, I realized that LHDP was changing. I wasn't going to see more character development from Silvia, I wasn't going to squeal like a girl from Pepa spouting poetry to Silvia and I wasn't going to be able to keep my straight girl crush on Montoya anymore! So I went to bed pretty upset.
But when I woke up this morning, I had an epiphany. Actually, I had this storyline in my head that I wanted to write. When I got to work, I was working on a storyline WHILE doing my job!!
Vale!
Background info: This fanfic happens one year after Episode 104 and is basically A/U. Silvia is indeed dead. Pepa and the hombres are coping. This fanfic is ALL Pepa. Silvia is mentioned but in the past. And No, I'm not hooking Pepa up with anyone in this installment. Maybe if I continue this in 10 years, Pepa can finally move on. LOL But this fanfic is what I perceive will happen in LHDP Season 9.
Sorry for any spelling errors, grammar issues and poor use of Spanish. I tried to proof when I got home but things got busy and I really wanted to post this. Sorry again!
Thank you to all readers who read it. Please comment and let me know what you think. I am a comment whore!!
Beso!!

“Buenos dias, guapa,” Pepa smiled at the wedding picture of her wife that stood on her mantle. “Today is my job evaluation with Don Lorenzo. Ai… I do not know what to expect but you don’t need to worry, I can handle him.”
Pepa took the photo frame in her hands and kissed the glass like she had done every morning after Silvia’s funeral. “Te querio, Pelirroja.” She kissed it again and placed the photo back in its place.
Precinct
Pepa twirled her pen between her fingers as she looked up at Don Lorenzo’s office. Don Lorenzo was currently evaluating Povedilla and since Don Lorenzo wasn’t yelling, it meant Pove was getting a good review. Pove deserved it; everyone at the Precinct deserved it.
Since her wedding day, Pepa was forced by the San Antonio Police Department to take a leave of absence. It lasted one hour and she was back at work, demanding Salgado to put her on El Gordo’s case. Salgado refused, citing her strong emotions towards the case would and could tamper the capture of El Gordo. But that didn’t stop Pepa, she arrived at every crime scene, undercover operations and briefing that linked to El Gordo. Don Lorenzo finally had enough of Pepa’s antics and permanently placed her on desk duty for El Gordo’s file. She was directed to only push papers on the Mafia and that’s what she did for the next year.
At first it was hard for Pepa not to be able to work the field but she soon realized the Precinct was the only place she felt home. This was where her wife spent most of her time. Pepa looked forward to going to work because she felt Silvia’s presence between the four walls of the Precinct, especially the lab.
Silvia’s lab was a different story. Don Lorenzo had been trying to fill the Forensic Inspector position three months after his daughter’s death. But Pepa wasn’t ready to move on even though Don Lorenzo’s stated the Precinct needed another Forensic Inspector to keep up with the case load.
It pained the Chief Commander to move on but he knew nothing was going to bring his daughter back. He told Pepa that he hope she would realize it too one day. What he wasn’t expecting was Pepa to run off over 20 Forensic Inspectors in the past 9 months! Pepa found some way to scare off the newly hired Forensic Inspectors, from personally kicking them out of the lab, bullying them in the Locker Room or scaring them with the story of the “Pelirroja Ghost” that haunted the lab. The Hombres even participated with the Pelirroja Ghost story making the hiring process more difficult.
Pepa leaned back on her chair and smiled as she thought of the last Forensic Inspector who left 2 weeks ago. She was a hard one for Pepa to get rid as the ghost stories and bullying didn’t work. So Pepa resorted to locking herself inside Silvia’s lab and refusing to let anyone in. Pepa staked out in the lab for 3 days, barricading the doors with tables and living off the stash of jamon she hid in the cabinets. Soon enough the woman had enough of Pepa’s stubborn demeanor and left the Precinct, leaving Pepa in victory and Don Lorenzo pissed off. Silvia’s lab was not replaceable.
Don Lorenzo’s office door opened and Pepa watched Don Lorenzo push Pove in his wheelchair to the hallway. They shook hands and Pove wheeled himself away. The doctors advise that he may never walk again but Pove kept his spirits up.
Don Lorenzo caught Pepa’s attention and gestured her to come up.
“Here’s goes nothing.” Pepa pushed herself off her chair and made her way to the Police Chief.
Don Lorenzo’s Office
“109 internal complaints were filed this year on you, Miranda!”
Don Lorenzo slammed a bulking file folder in front of Pepa. Pepa smirked at the file folder.
“And not from all the Forensics you have harassed. The complaints are that you are stubborn, hard to work with or you wouldn’t let them do their jobs! Not to mention the lab!”
He threw his hands in the air in frustration
“Dios! The lab, Miranda! We need that lab to do our jobs. We can’t continue to keep it empty.”
Don Lorenzo took a breath and rubbed his cheek. “But you are doing a superb job, Pepa. Your intelligence on El Gordo is getting our field team closer to finding his whereabouts. Your research has been most helpful to the Precinct.”
Pepa knew her father-in-law would eventually get to the point after that long rant. “Thank you, Sir. I would do anything to bring justice to the Mafia. In fact, I receive positive information to a secluded cabin that may be owned by El Gordo. I will be able to assemble a team to secure the cabin.”
Don Lorenzo eyed the brunette and shook his head. “You are strictly on desk duty for the El Gordo case.”
“It’s been almost a year and we haven’t been any closer to El Gordo then we were two years ago.” Pepa scoffed, “I won’t be a hinder if I’m allowed to do field work. I need to do field work!”
The Chief wanted to believe Pepa but he knew her too well. Pepa would go hell gun blazing to find the Mafia if she was allowed. He was more surprised that she hadn’t already. But in the back of his mind, Pepa was forming a plan. She was biding her time before she did something reckless.
“Strictly desk duty. End of Story.” Don Lorenzo cut the air with his hand and moved forward to the evaluation. “Last month, you submitted a file on El Gordo’s connection to a gang in Spain, the Costa del Sol Oscuro. Excellent work, I have included it to your evaluation. If we are able to bring down both parties, a promotion recommendation will be in the works for you.”
“Thank you Don Lorenzo.” Pepa nodded, even though she didn’t care for the promotion.
“Have you received any updates on this rising gang?”
“Costa del Sol Oscuro originated the south of Spain but have branched their unit to the entire country. Their numbers are steadily increasing and there have been confirmation that gang members resided in San Antonio. Intel informs they are in the drug and weaponry trade in San Antonio. However no word if El Gordo has communicated with the San Antonio gang members recently,” Pepa reported.
Pepa had stumbled upon Costa del Sol Oscuro in a file Montoya had been working on. On Montoya’s report he noted El Gordo may had meetings with Sol Oscuro’s gang leader. Pepa didn’t want Montoya’s hard work to go to waste so she took the file and found Montoya was correct, the two members were integrating.
“Interesting. Keep alert and report to me of any signs that El Gordo is in business with Costa del Sol Oscuro.” Don Lorenzo folded his hands on his desk and looked at Pepa. “How are you feeling these days?”
“I’m fine.” Pepa replied.
“I meant at home. Not a work. How are you doing at home,” Don Lorenzo corrected. Pepa knew exactly what he meant but was hoping to get away with her short answer.
“I’m fine at home too.” Pepa forced but she wasn’t. At night she prayed she would wake up to see her SIlvia again. For months she wondered if there was anything she could have done to prevent Silvia from dying in her arms. But Silvia said she did everything she could. That was what hurt Pepa the most. She did all she could to help Silvia but it wasn’t enough.
“Glad to hear, daugther-in-law. Now, if you agree with our evaluation. I require you to sign this form and continue on.” Don Lorenzo passed Pepa the forms.
“No problem.” Pepa smiled and hastily signed the form. Before she exited the office, Don Lorenzo stopped her.
“We hired Dr. Marcos Reyes as our new Forensic Inspector today.” Don Lorenzo informed.
“Is that so?” Pepa crossed her arms and lean against the door frame.
“He starts tomorrow. And Pepa, be on your best behavior. We need to fill the position.”
Pepa gave her hugest grin and walked out of the office.
“Not likely,” Pepa whispered to herself.
Outside the Precinct
A shaggy hair male sat in his vehicle, staring at the San Antonio Precinct. He watched the passerby as they enter and exit the building.
The loud phone ring interrupted his concentration and he fumbled for his cell phone.
“Hola, Dr. Marcos Reyes,” the male greeted monotonously.
“Are you in?” The caller asked.
“Tell El Gordo Costa del Sol Oscuro is in.”
