Okay, whatever

I'll be in Seattle later this week, and Portland on the weekend. I intend going to the Stumptown Comics Fest specifically to buy Girl Genius books. Any companions?

Um, looks like it's been a month since the last parentally-prodded update. Though certain parents are welcome to register for Facebook to see more sporadic "miniblog" notes from me. Ahem.

In that time, I've continued spending heaping wodges of time in Second Life. Been politely Volunteered into a Library role there, which should prove at least a tidbit for the ol' résumé.

Went to one trivia event for gragathaz's department, and missed the second one (though there was some dispute as to its date) and will miss this week's as well, what with travelling.

Lately? Lately the cat has a jaw tumour and despite their refusing him surgery on the grounds that cats never do well afterwards, his internal organs still haven't failed from his near-starvation habits. He gets a "pain-patch" every five days; last time I tried to bring him in on the fourth day but they refused that too (Jeez, guys, what's the worst that could happen?!). gragathaz gets to handle all of that whilst I'm gone over the upcoming week (Wednesday to Wednesday). I suspect the cat will continue dragging his bloody (not an expletive) drool all over the house slowly and sullenly declining, and then suddenly fail to function, so it's difficult to predict when that will be.

And I bought a $20 kit to make a "chainmaille" (I pronounce this in a ridiculous way, because I feel that the spelling is girly for girliness' sake) bracelet. Byzantine weave, if you care. And finally today I obtained the requisite number (two) of pliers with which to ply the rings. I am going to do this tomorrow so I can show it off Out West.

Besides also going shopping tomorrow for a pair of (very)Fat Jeans, because my only pair that currently fits me (a hand-me-over) has finally developed a hole in an unmentionable location.

Oh, and the big news of the week is that yesterday my computer, after quite some time on difficult terms with its power cord has finally given up their nodding acquaintance and disowned the socket. It no longer knows when it's plugged in (and believe me, I'm quite skilled with the wiggling), hence snootily will neither charge the battery. And either way, has been abandoned to the cares of the repairshop to be estimated, which reply I hope to have in a week (!).

Sooo, I'm comandeering the other computer of the house for the duration, and will be working nearly without locally saved files of any kind. I will have my iPod and camera with me (and their chargers), but won't be synching with iTunes or digital photos. More frustratingly, I have three Gmail addresses that need regular checking, even besides the UW email, which had been forwarded to Gmail by my Mail program (not by itself), and which I must perforce check with (shudder) WebPine for the duration. I think I will also re-download 1Passwd to help a bit. And then there's the chatting. I discovered today that the Gtalk Gadget uses flash and so disallows such modernisms as copy/paste. Adium, it is!, but I am warning you now that maybe half of the logins are getting plugged into that sucker, since I'll have to get passwords resent for many of them. Should be all right, though, since I have twice as many logins as I actually need.

travel, i made this, update, jewellery, computer whinging, pets, internet, cat, steampunk, comics
