  1. When you plan to mix two things in the same bowl, mix the one inclusive of cocoa powder second. You don’t want to wash that bowl three times today.
  2. Or the measuring spoons.
  3. Thank goodness I have a set of emergency-backup measuring cups.
  4. Decide whether a) to melt your butter-or-margarine, or b) to use your pastry-cutter. Don’t do both. You will not double your efficiency.
  5. If the cookie dough looks awfully dry, check that you didn’t forget to include something moist. Maybe an egg? I know you’ve already read the recipe several times, but you never know.
  6. Although a dry dough in "cookie" format does work a lot better for the "getting into the oven" stage, so much surface area can be awfully crumbly.
