and here have I the daintiness of ear to check time broke in a disordered string

I called the music store this afternoon to see if my psaltery had been repaired yet, since today was the day they said it'd be ready, and lo and behold, it was! I have been spending my afternoon and evening trying to figure it out. It's really easy to learn -- I learned a few years back from a friend who had one and it took me about five minutes to figure out -- but if it's easy to learn, it's surprisingly hard to play well. I have managed to keep the locations of the notes fairly fixed in my memory (though accidentals are a bit tricky), and have even achieved a fairly convincing legato, but it still feels counterintuitive that the strings attached to the pegs at the pointy end (the one farther away from me) are the low notes. I think this is because I'm used to the guitar. And my bowing technique probably sucks a lot.

But it sounds lovely -- I mean, not that lovely because I still suck at it, but it would sound lovely if played by someone good at it. Eventually, I shall be good at it.

Also, since I'm not used to holding it, my wrists and shoulders hurt like a bitch...
