St. George for England and King Edward's right!

So this morning I've been doing the Stratford Ticket Shuffle, thanks to an absolutely horrifying rumor I saw on the SHAKSPER listserv that their production of Edward II, which doesn't even start previews for an entire month, has sold out its entire run already. The website seems to tell a different story, which I hope ardently to be the case, as I' ( Read more... )

I posted a response saying that when I was in Stratford (just got back) no one was talking about Edward at all, so I wouldn't worry.

Then I went to bounce around the Stratford site and could not find a date with seats available. So ignore me.

When will you be there? What else are you seeing?

Hrm...a few of the dates I looked at did appear to have seats left but it's entirely possible I'm wrong and I'll have to miss yet another show I really want to see. (It's quite a pain, really: either there won't be any tickets, or I won't be able to afford them.) I'm also hoping I'll get to see Measure for Measure. So I'll be there in August, which is when both shows open.

I'm there at the end of August (going into September). Measure ends the life list, which will be kind of exciting (life list = have seen all 38).

When I started looking up dates just to see, I first thought there were seats because it would let me go to the "tell us how many you want" page. It was only when I really looked at the page that I realized that the "tickets available" number was 0 that I went, "gee."

Good luck!

Alas, I cannot get to Stratford at all, so I hope you'll tell us all about Edward after you've seen it, whenever that may be, so we can enjoy it vicariously through you...

I don't mean to be party to ugly rumors, but - it's whispered about that Edward II is not the work of the Bard at all, but rather from the pen of a conniving sinister little invert counterfeiter spy who was stabbed through the eye in Deptfort so he would not talk about certain matters reaching far afield of any stray dockside settling of accounts.

Mum's the word.

But of course. Just thought I'd provide the voice-over, like the community gossip in old movies that moves the plot along by explication. Sometimes the narrative is broadbased, like: "Hey, here comes Lionel, your brother, home from his job on the railroad!" As if the sister to whom she are supposedly addressin' didn't know Lionel was her brother nor where he worked.
