Three absolutely random observations from a trip to Borders:

1. There is a book called The Idiot's Guide to the Crusades. This amuses me far too much.

2. There is also a CD called The Most Frightening Music in the Universe. And yet it contains not a single track by Britney Spears. Why is this, I ask you ( Read more... )

Can you share the titles of the squirrel songs? I don't know why but I'm dying of curiousity.

"Hunt the Squirrel," "Squirrel's Lament," and "The Squirrel's Toy." They all appear in medleys of dance tunes, and none of them appear to have words, but still! ;)

Would you mind sending your thunderstorm down to Texas in your place? We could really use a break from the heat down here, especially since runny make-up does not a good Shakespearean actor make.

Yes, dare I ask what the scariest songs in the universe are?

Oh, the usual stuff. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D, the Rite of Spring, Night on Bald Mountain and all that. Also the Psycho soundtrack.

I don't think any of that is nearly as scary as, say, William Shatner's album.

Oh, pshaw. I've got those on my old 'Classics from the Crypt'. It also includes Funeral March of a Marionette, Danse Macabre, In the Hall of the Mountain King and Ride of the Valkyries.

But I like those pieces. No, if you want to go for truly frightening music, you need to hear the 'Golden Throats' album. Particularly where Leonard Nimoy tries to sing 'Proud Mary'.

Yay, for the squirrel songs! Although, I must say that their titles don't bode well for said squirrels. ;)

It's called O Lusty May, by the Toronto Consort. Good album. The title track is in Middle Scots, which makes me tremendously happy.
