Sewing machines?

As in, does anybody know how to work one? Aaages ago now I was given an old electric sewing machine, and always intended to figure out how to use the damn thing and indeed if it works, but never quite got round to it (as you do).

However, I now have a job to do that really would take forever to sew by hand (hemming 5m of fabric for a baby sling ( Read more... )

Right - I've been meaning to come over and see you and James and t'babby soon anyway, so how about we use this as a prompt? I am not exactly a master seamstress, but I do have a fairly sound grasp of sewing-machine basics, and should certainly be able to teach you how to hem, assuming the machine is in basic working order.

I'm dead flexible, like, at the moment because teaching has finished - so could come any day out of Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun. Whatever suits you.

Sounds good to me. What sort of time would you like me to come, and what do I need to do to get there? I have your address, and remember you saying it's near to one of the local stations in Manchester - but which one?

Whenever suits you really - late lunchtime maybe?

The station you need is called Mauldeth Road. Trains go from Picadilly about every half hour, an.d we can come get you from there
