The life update/ Where has Xero been?

Apr 24, 2007 17:44

So this is one of the two issue 0 updates, this is the 'life' update, significant events. Although having said that I'm bound to miss something out... The second update will be more of a creative update, a look at where I am creatively and what I've been doing.

So, a lot of things are the same but in some ways a lot has changed too, the balance has most definitely shifted upwards though which makes life pretty cool right now.

The kind of major, but less important (so I'll get it out of the way first), thing is that I've been made redundant, or will be redundant as of June 1st. I can't go into all the details but basically Kulture Shock is moving elsewhere, out of easy reach for me. Which means if anybody knows of any jobs going that are part time and somewhat flexible then please let me know. I've got loads of shop/ webshop experience and am very talented and intelligent. Also I can make both tea and coffee. *^_^*

This is something of a down note, fortunately the up notes have been vastly louder and more prominent...

About 8 months ago (nearly) I started going out with the chromatically-challenged, superstar DJ mz_pink *^_~*, which a lot of you know, but, just to catch everyone up to speed. We've been really close friends for a long time and the upgrade in relationship to, um, relationship status is really cool. As predicted, most of the reactions were either of the two polar opposites of 'WTF? No way' or 'yeah, like that wasn't obvious, surprised it took you two so long'.

And of course there was a healthy spattering of people who pointed out that Kara knew me really well, and my track record, what I'm like with girlfriends, so what on earth could she be thinking, to which she pointed out, exactly, she knew me really well, she knew exactly what she was letting herself in for. I should probably say that I, too, was among those people. *^_~* We're both really happy and I'm glad we're getting to prove them wrong, I hope we continue doing so for a very long time. =)

At the beginning of the year Alix, a friend of mine who moved into my flat a few years ago and became not only a really close friend but a most excellent flatmate, moved to Canada. She couldn't stand to live in a country where there were no naturally occuring caribou. No. Her boyfriend, Dee, got a job out there. He's another good friend of mine and it was great to see them happy together but sad to see them go. I have been monumentally bad at staying in touch. *slaps wrist*

This did mean I needed a new flatmate though, and I asked Kara. Who said yes. Moving fast? Maybe, but sometimes you just know things aren't going to work and sometimes you know they really are. We may not have been going out long but we've known each other for years.

Did I say 'moving fast'? On March 1st I asked Kara to marry me. Her 25th birthday, we'd been dating 6 months. I took her to Dunston Hall as a birthday present/ sur[rise, and it totally lived up to expectations, if not beyond. The beds were _so_ comfy, with _so_ many pillows, the staff were excellent, the food was perfect, the best food I think I have ever had. And before we went down for dinner (actually I think the dining room was geographically higher, but you know what I mean) I got down on one knee, produced the ring, and asked.

She said yes.
