So... my holiday has finally started at last. I'm currently in my room, at my sister's...after midnight. It's so quiet here. Everyone else is in bed and I'm on the net. LOL
My trip to Perth started off easily enough. The trip on the Australind Train is really quite nice and fast, giving me time to relax and work on my latest chapter of Rockabye. All around me were a bunch of backpackers and it was really kewl listening to Irish and American accents, plus a couple I couldn't pick beyond the fact they were European.
As we pulled into Perth, I was amazed to see how built up it is now. All high density living and apartment blocks that had the country girl in me screaming to RUN!! RUN NOW!! lol
We pulled into Perth City Station and I grabbed my denim jacket and my laptop bag, ready to jump off the train....and as i reached the luggage area, I realised my bag was missing. Apparently another passenger had gotten off on one of the earlier stops with my bag instead of hers....
Now I tried not to panic as the two lovely conductors tried to find my bag for me. In the end, Xavier told me to follow him as he took the other bag down to the Transwa offices. That was when I started to freak, cause it hit me that although I had no clothes and I was worried about the presents for Tara and Deb I had in there....the biggest thing I couldn't lose...was my pictures of Abby I had brought with me. They are the only ones I have and it never occured to me that the train could lose my bag. Otherwise they would have been put in with my laptop.
So I called my sister to find out how long she would be before she picked me up and told her what had happened as I walked around to where she would meet me. Then I called Tara straight afterwards. She couldn't believe it either. LOL I kept thinking it had to be Karma or something cause everything had been going so well so far.
Anyway, I was waiting for my sister to arrive, when Xavier walks up to me and assures me that he thinks he knows who has my bag. He took my phone number and promised me that I would have my bag back tomorrow and he was so apologetic. He's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet ( I've travelled on the train with him before) and he's also a Supernatural fan!! How cool is that??
I thanked Xavier profusely and then hopped into my sister's car. I tried to laugh it off on the way there but it was really stressing me...and Donna too, cause she couldn't bear me to lose those photos.
Jump forward a couple of hours, past a lovely homecooked meal and some excellent conversation....and I recieved a call from Xavier. He had driven out to the house of the girl who had my bag and picked it up for me personally. I can pick it up tomorrow morning, although if I had wanted? He would have driven it around to me tomorrow afternoon personally. How lovely is that?? I've left some feedback on the Transwa site and hopefully his bosses will see it.
I'm also going to buy him a present to say thanks and will give it to him personally. He was so lovely on the phone, thanking me for being so understanding. But really, how could i not be when I had people like Xavier working so hard to help me?
So yeah... panic stations are over, crisis averted. LOL
It was weird calling Phill tonight. I miss him so much already and it's only been a few hours since I saw him. LOL This will be the longest we have been apart, since Connor was born 3 years ago. What can I say? No matter how much he might drive me batty...he's my soul mate and I won't feel complete again until I'm back in his arms.
As for the kids? Connor was a little uncertain as he waved me goodbye today and gave me a kiss. But on the phone tonight he was chirpy and made sure that "Mummy be home shhhoon" I got a lump in my throat talking to him. I'm such a sook.
Sam is being the "big girl" of the house and helping her dad with her brother and sister while I'm gone.
Caitlin refused to speak to me on the phone at first. She apparently cried all the way home....45 kms worth of tears. And then refused to speak to me when I rang. But later when I called back, she was happier and willing to chat, although I think she's going to take my being gone the hardest...and she's ten. LOL
So...yeah. There's day one.
Tomorrow is food shopping with my sister and a bbq that night with my other sister and both my brothers in law. It should be an awesome evening of fun family time that I've been craving. I adore having time with my sisters.
Tune in tomorrow for another update....I think it might be bedtime now...LOL
*HUGS* to the Flist
