Chapter 3,
Chapter 4,
Chapter 5
“What the hell are you doing here?!” Jun demanded the moment Toma slipped into the booth he and Keiko is occupying the moment the woman excused herself to go to the ladies room.
It had been about half an hour since Yamapi and Kame left the pub after picking up Jin, which was the reason why they went there, and, of course, dropping by Jun and Keiko’s table to show ‘respect’ to the sempai in there.
“I’m worried…” Toma exclaimed. “What if the plan didn’t work? It didn’t look like it worked. Yamapi still left…”
Jun rolled his eyes and shook his head. “It’s working…”
“What makes you so sure?” Toma asked worriedly. “I was watching from the side and Yamapi didn’t look affected at all…”
“Because you didn’t see his eyes…” Jun simply replied. “I did, you didn’t… I saw it in his eyes… And I guarantee that it is working… Now, get the hell out of here before Keiko-chan comes out and sees you, four Johnny’s in this pub in one night is already suspicious… A fifth one showing up would be a bit too much…”
Toma sighed but he still stood up. Before leaving the booth though, he said “I really hope you’re right…”
-----
Toma’s hopes and Jun’s assurance would not be put to waste since at that very moment, sitting inside his manager’s car, Yamapi could not pry his eyes of the door of the pub they’re in.
He had ditched Jin at a convenience store earlier after Kame dashed out for a shoot, something he’d been itching to do the moment he took the first step outside that pub.
He could feel all the blood going to his head the moment he saw her in their with his sempai and it took him all the self-restraint he could ever muster not to drag her out of there the same way he did that time he saw her at the club.
Technically speaking, he couldn’t say that she and Jun were doing anything wrong. They were just sitting there, having a chat after all. There’s even a respectable distance between the two of them. But for some reason, seeing her with his sempai affected him much, much more than how seeing her dancing with that guy at the club did. The worst part is, he couldn’t do anything about it.
He knew that they were both still inside when he got back to the pub’s parking lot and saw Jun’s car still parked there. But he didn’t leave his manager’s car. He and his manager exchanged cars for the night since his own car was having some engine problems and his manager consented to taking it to the mechanic himself.
He didn’t even realize how that unexpected change would play in his favor until he saw Jun leading her out of the door and towards the parking lot. He didn’t leave the confines of the car, he didn’t give any sign that he was there. He just sat there and waited, waited until she and Jun were inside Jun’s car and Jun drove off.
And then he followed.
-----
The moment Yamapi saw that Jun was heading towards Keiko’s apartment’s direction, he couldn’t help but heave a relieved sigh.
His mind has been painting to him various different pictures, all of which worse than the one before as he trailed their car. The recollection that Jun and Keiko were once linked with each other before despite the fact that they hadn’t even worked significantly with each other didn’t help either.
But when he realized where two are heading to, he cut them off and went straight to Keiko’s apartment. He had successfully hidden himself in the darkness next to the potted plants at the end of the hallway that leads to Keiko’s room when Jun and Keiko finally appeared.
“I had a great time Matsumoto-kun…” he heard Keiko say as the two of them stopped in front of her door, Keiko’s bag in Jun’s hand.
“It’s always my pleasure Keiko-chan…” he saw Jun smile. And for a split second, he thought his and Jun’s eyes met when Jun’s eyes wandered off to the area where he is hiding. After a blink of an eye though, he saw that Jun’s eyes were on Keiko. And before he knew it, Jun was leaning over and his own hands balled into fists as he fought hard to not reveal himself right there and then.
-----
It was just a kiss on the cheeks, nothing intimate, nothing too intruding, but it still made Yamapi’s eyes turn red, even more when he saw that Keiko had a small smile on her lips when that kiss ended.
It was a good thing that Jun said goodbye after that. When he turned around to leave, Keiko stood there for a bit, waiting for him to be out of sight before getting into her apartment just like Yamapi hoped for.
When Jun was out of eyesight, Keiko turned around to open her door when Yamapi finally revealed himself.
“Had fun tonight Keiko?” he asked.
-----
There was a smile on Jun’s lips when he entered his car. He was just about to start the engine when his phone rang. He didn’t even bother looking at the caller’s name when he raised it to his ear and pressed the answer button.
“What’s up?” he asked.
“We have a problem…” came Ryo’s voice. “Big one…”
“What?”
“Well, the idiot who was supposed to be in charge of keeping tabs on Yamapi lost him…” replied Ryo.
From Ryo’s side, Jun could hear Jin crying “It’s not my fault if Yamapi has ninja-esque skills!”
“Shut up!” he heard Ryo growl at the guy before telling Jun. “In other words, we lost Pi. We don’t know where he is…”
“I do…” Jun chuckled.
“You do?!” Ryo and Jin exclaimed at the same time from the other line, Jin obviously having made Ryo put the phone on loudspeaker. “Where?”
“Keiko’s apartment…” Jun chuckled. “Congratulations by the way… The plan worked…”

Chapter 6 (Finale)
Keiko gasped the moment she heard his voice, partly because she was startled hearing his voice all of a sudden and coming out of the dark and partly because of the mere fact that he is there.
“What are you doing here Yamapi?!” she cried, turning around to see Yamapi emerge from the shadows.
“What are you doing going out with Matsumoto?!” Yamapi asked back.
Keiko’s eyes narrowed as Yamapi stepped closer to her, her heart still beating fast, as she tried to read what his real intention is. But Yamapi’s eyes, as well as his face, was masked, something which did nothing but to irritate Keiko more.
“That’s none of your business!” she snapped. “And I asked the question first!”
If Keiko snapped at the mask hiding his real feelings, Yamapi cracked at her defensive words. Before she knew it, and before he could stop himself, he had pushed her against the wall. Owing to the fact that it was quite an unexpected move, Keiko was caught off-guard when he captured her lips. And he had managed to deepen the kiss before Keiko could react.
For a few moments, Keiko struggled against him as she tried to push him off her. But Yamapi was stronger and much more determined, more so than usual. He was particularly determined to completely overshadow Jun’s earlier kiss to her, even though that wasn’t on the lips. And after a few moments, Keiko stopped struggling as the hands that were pushing at his shoulders entwined itself behind his neck.
Yamapi could only groan in her mouth with pleasure as she started responding to him.
Unfortunately, they both needed to breathe and that was the prompt that ended the kiss. Even more unfortunately, the split second they needed to clear their lungs was enough to clear Keiko’s mind too. With her eyes dark, she pushed him off her and stomped into her apartment. She would have slammed the door in his face too if Yamapi hadn’t inserted his foot in time.
“If you have anything important to say Yamashita, say it!” Keiko declared the moment he followed her into her apartment, secretly locking the door behind him. “If not, then you better leave.”
“Is that true?” he chose to challenge as he took calculated steps closer to her. He knew that he might be pushing the limits already but he also knew he can’t just declare what he wanted to say like that. And somehow, he found comfort in the fact that Keiko stayed her ground and had not turned her back away from him, at least not yet. “Do you really want me to go?”
The words in itself would be considered cocky but the way he said it, and the way he looked while he said it, had no confidence whatsoever.
It still, however, seemed to irritate Keiko.
“I’m tired!” she declared as she headed for her room. “And it looks like you don’t have anything important to say, so please see your way out.”
Before she could take more than just a few steps though, Yamapi suddenly asked “Are you in love with me?”
He saw how she was stopped momentarily on her heels before she slowly turned around and looked at him with a bland expression.
“In love?” she repeated, her voice dripping in irony. “With you? Come on Yamashita, idols and actresses don’t fall in love, remember? We just act like we are.”
Yamapi almost winced at her response but he forced out a smile. “Then you really are a good actress,” he said. “Because while you were acting like that, it felt real to me. It still does, actually.”
Keiko didn’t say anything, she just stood there and stared at him. And Yamapi somehow knew that whatever he does or says next would determine where the two of them would go.
“Somewhere along the way, I forgot that we were just supposed to be acting,” he added, his eyes boring into hers.
It took a few heartbeats before he heard and saw Keiko gasp at his words but her eyes narrowed at him suspiciously.
“What?!” was all she said.
Yamapi let out a low chuckle at this point as he took one step closer to Keiko while she seemed rooted in place to the floor. Remembering what Ryo told him before, that she needed to know, he understood that it was no longer time for cryptic words and messages. He has to say it out.
“I’ve fallen in love with you,” he said, feeling his own heart grow lighter. And before he knew it, it seemed like he couldn’t stop himself anymore as words poured out of his mouth. “I want to continue spending my time with you. Whenever I see you, or even just hear your voice, it feels like all my tiredness and worries would go away. I want to be the one who wipes away your tears. I want to be the one you run to when you have problems or worries.”
“I want to be with you. Even though I know it’s impossible, I want to be able to hold your hand when I’m walking down the road. I want to be able to tell my friends that we are together. I want to wake up in the morning next to you. And I know that that’s a lot of wants but the main point is that I want you.”
From narrowed eyes, he saw Keiko’s eyes grew larger with every sentence he spoke. And by the time his statement ended, her eyes were brimming with tears.
“Hey,” he started, closing what little distance they had left between them as he reached out to wipe away the tears that started streaming down her cheeks. “You know I hate seeing you cry.”
Keiko let out a soft chuckle as she too tried to reach out to wipe away her own tears, only tried because Yamapi stopped her hands midway as he wiped her tears’ path again.
“You did say you want to wipe away my tears, right?” she said.
Yamapi ended up chuckling, hearing her say those words. He somehow already knew what she implied, but Keiko isn’t finished yet.
“I had almost already given up you know,” she said. “You are, after all, a very difficult man to love.”
If Yamapi felt his heart feeling lighter when he finally admitted it to her, this time, he felt his heart soar.
And if Keiko had something more she wanted to say, he didn’t wait to hear it as he crossed the distance between their faces.
“I’m glad you didn’t completely give up,” he said before his lips closed on hers.
Unlike the first kiss they shared of the evening, this one was softer, lighter, and in so many ways leaning more towards sweeter rather than erotic. And it absolutely felt right.
And when it ended, she no longer had tears in her eyes as a different kind of glow took its place.
There was also a smile on her face as she said “I’m also glad I didn’t.”
