Mel wrote this a long while ago, before Sateda in Season 3 aired, and while that episode was one of the better ones, in terms of Ronon’s culture it was a total cop out. Hence why I still kind of hold this story as an alternative canon for Ronon’s backstory. It’s ten times more interesting and compelling, and Ronon’s interactions with Elizabeth are spot on. There’s that sense of awkwardness, and yet still a tiny connection, an understanding, that forms between them. I may have moved on from the Stargate ‘verse for the most part, but this story still remains a huge, huge favorite that I go back to again and again when I need something to cheer me up.
