Since my employer doesn't know how to follow a budget, he decided to "allow" hourly employees to take four hours off a week to help cut down on costs (salary employees lost 4%). I take a half day on Wednesday because I have class. My hubby asked this morning to pick up diced tomatoes for goulash for dinner. On my way home from my half day (though I miss the money, I do like leaving work at noon), I stopped by Beat-Yer-Kid-Wal-Mart. After picking up Thank You notes for my son (and X-Men Origins: Wolverine on blu ray), I found a can of "petite" diced tomatoes. As my luck holds, an express lane wasn't open so I picked one to wait for check out.
A tall women in a beautiful dress with a cart full of dog food and magazines stood in line before me. She turned after I approached. "Would you like to go before me? You don't have all that much."
It's very difficult to speak with your jaw on the floor. However, I thanked her for her kindness and stated I was content not being at work. She laughed and unloaded her plastic containers of dog food onto the conveyor belt. I commented that she must over her dog and she laughed again, stating her puppy ate better than her.
We had a nice conversation while waiting to check out. Hurray for nice people!
