*bounces excitedly*

As a history geek living in Edinburgh this is HUGE, but it looks brilliant any way you slice it!

It's here, it's here, it's almost here!!!!!

In other news, I now feel like such a creep for fangirling over serial killers...

However, (little known fact about this movie) David Tennant was supposed to star as William Hare, but had to leave because NBC held his contract at the time and thought that Rex is not your Lawyer (or whatever it's called I haven't seen it) might get picked up early so they wouldn't let him shoot for this movie. Ironically Rex didn't get picked up at ALL and now this movie is lacking my favorite actor...

However, all is not lost, Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis, Christopher Lee, Tim Curry (as Alexander Monro! for those who have read the Doctor Who book, The Many Hands.) are all in major roles, and there are rumors of John Cleese, and Dan Aykroyd turning up!

All in all, I can not wait for this to come out!

P.S. I don't usually fangirl over people who have killed 17 people for profit, but these guys hold a special place in the twisted part of my soul (the part that revels in scaring the wits out of people in the haunted house I work in, and the part that keeps pulling me back to Greyfriar's Cemetry and the South Bridge vaults) simply because they've provided inspiration for bits and pieces of a novel I am working on. (It's not been started yet, but the story line has been coming together nicely.) Just to clear that up so no one thinks me a complete lunatic... I'm just a partial one.

EDIT: For those who are interested: David Tennant played Daft Jamie (the last victim of Burke and Hare) on a Doctor Who audio drama. I'm not sure where to find the recording but there is a two minute clip on youtube:

iTunes also has an audiobook for the DW book I mentioned the Many Hands, Martha Jones is the featured companion, and I forget who reads it. But it's a good story.
