So I did go fabric shopping today. Was totally lazy and went to Spotlight. I know I know, I could get better prices if I shop around...but I just don't have the patience, as I just want to get started on it.
So I cheated and brought a pattern to work from...and will make adjustments myself. I brought a roll of newsprint from The Warehouse Stationary so I will be able to draft up some patterns on that.
I had previously brought this lovely fabric from the Fabric Warehouse in Newmarket. So I was trying to find something that would work with it, for a contrasting collar and a fake obi corset.
Here is the pattern that I am using, and the fabric that will be used for the main part of the kimono. I then found some (don't kill me
pinkdiamond ) ~_^ Satin Back Shantung in the light pink and dark pink of the flowers on the fabric above. All the cottons that I looked at to play as contrast just looked blargh!! I also brought some black broadcloth and netting for the puffy underskirt.
Will be using some old sheets to start on the kimono tomorrow.
