Not to get a big head

But I really need to have more intelligent people in these classes that I'm taking.  I know, I know, I bring it upon myself to take these credits at a junior college.  And yes, I'm almost guaranteed a perfect four-point, but honestly, can I please see more in depth thoughts?  We are working with childrens literature which requires a deeper analysis than what a child can give.  I don't like the Hobbit, either.  It's not my style.  But I read it, analyze it and discuss if this is a decent piece of childrens literature.

Because if we only read in our comfort zone, then half of their children will be products of only the Twilight series.

[And we know how I feel about that.]

But what if a kid desires some adventure and trolls and goblins and elves and a great journey (something slightly easier to read than the Odyssey)?  Would The Hobbit work well for that child?  Possibly.  That's what we need to figure.

So, boys and girls, suck it up, read the book and analyze it as the educated adults that you should desire to be.

Haha, I knew my first rant would come in during week 2 of 15!

And I think 1/2 of my English class will be decent.  And I'll work with the others.  But my classroom set up will hopefully cut down on the interruptions.

Love, love, love my first hour students.  What a fantastic way to start my day--with coffee!
