The second mix in the Avengers series I've been working on.

I'm Exposed, Like a Nerve; a Bruce Banner/Hulk fanmix
Mild spoilers for the movie ahead. Proceed at your own discretion.
Bruce Banner is by far the character I least expected to like in Avengers. The other Hulk movies left me kind of :|, so naturally his character fell behind the likes of Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and even Black Widow and Hawkeye, in terms of how much I was looking forward to seeing him. As far as I was concerned, even if he wasn't in the movie, I wouldn't have minded.
But boy, was I wrong. Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner freakin' MADE this movie. There are nuances of strength and turmoil in his behaviour that ever so subtly hint at his big secret, and his scenes - whether he's bonding with Stark in what can only be described as the best superhero bromance of all time, or recounting how he tried to kill himself and failed - just leave me slack-jawed and full of emotion every time I see the film (the count's on 3 right now xD). Not only is the character incredibly well-written (mad props, Joss Whedon), but it is Mark Ruffalo's performance that just nails down all the vulnerability, angst, and anger that ultimately make Hulk the strongest and gentlest of them all.
The title comes from a line Bruce says to Tony Stark while they're bro-ing it up in the lab; Tony says that Bruce should suit up and join them in battle instead of reading all about it in the papers the day after, and Bruce replies "you see, that's just it... I don't get a suit of armour. I'm exposed... like a nerve." That just rang so true for Bruce's character, and it's the perfect simile to describe the extremely vulnerable state Banner finds himself in when he's the Hulk, even though he's virtually indestructible.
I could go on and on, my feelings are SO HUGE. Hulklike, even... But I will let the music do my talking.
