You know, that's a really interesting thing you wrote about here...it's definitely a different viewpoint. However, I do believe that people are born inherently good...babies are pure creatures, after all. They have no concept of "right" and "wrong," and they learn their morals and behaviors from the people around them. So I believe that in reality, the Seed of Kindness is inherent in people...but the Seed of Evil is the easier one to grow, so people kind of trade, you know?
I'll use a single-player RPG I've got as an example. It's "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic." lol, Yes, I'm a geek. :-P Anyway, you can choose the Light Side and the Dark Side. In some ways, the Dark Side is easier (ie, instead of convince someone to give you something, you kill him and take it) and more profitable (more items, more experience, more gold), while the Light Side is more difficult and won't earn you a lot of gold in the meantime. Because of this, the Dark Side is more tempting to a lot of people...it's the same kind of concept. But I still believe that good is what we're born with, not evil. Maybe it's a naive viewpoint, but I think...I think I'd rather believe that, you know? Haha, maybe that doesn't make sense, but what can I say?

No, James... the truth is that even babies are born with seeds of evil in them. Take me for example. As a child I like to steal foods from dining tables.
Of course, I can argue that at that time I didn't know it was wrong. But the truth was that I did it secretly. If I was sure I wasn't wrong in stealing the foods, then I wondered how come I did it secretly. The fact was that after I got caught stealing my mum scolded me, I knew that stealing was wrong, and I never did it again. Of course we can also say that people also have seeds of kindness, but that rarely comes to surface.
I for myself won't go as far to say that I am pure evil as I was born. After all, my sensitivity is not something I get from my surroundings if u understand what I mean ^_________^;;
So I guess... half-half then. Seeds of evil from original sin, and seeds of kindness from God, which are hidden somewhere in the background.
It is very nice of you to believe that human beings are born pure, James, but this concept will only hurt you don't you think? It is for me better for example to believe that human beings are born evil and then learn that they have some gold sand in their hearts better than believing that they are all good only to be kicked around and realize that they are indeed evil.

Well, we'll agree to disagree, then. I myself can't bring myself to believe that all people are evil (even half-evil) right from the start of their lives. It would indicate that evil is the ultimate end of all humans, and I prefer to think that there is still hope for all of us, if you understand me. Perhaps it will hurt me, but it's still a part of my own ideals, and I swore that I would live by my ideals, right? :-) Besides, doing something wrong isn't necessarily the same as doing something evil.
Like your story about stealing foods...you may have done it secretly, but if you think about it, are you certain you meant to do it secretly? You said yourself that you stopped when your mom scolded you about it. That indicates that you didn't know initially, right? Perhaps there are seeds of evil in all of us...but for my part, I'd rather believe in the seeds of good. Children need to be taught, after all...they don't start off knowing right from wrong. ^_^

About my story.. I still remember that I jerked off everytime I sense others' presence while I stole foods and I kept tiptoing so I can hardly said I was an innocent bunny back then lol!!!
I also hope u r right. For this time I'll stick to my theory until I have a statement XDDDD

lol, Well, it's always good to stick by your beliefs! For my part, I prefer to believe in good so that there's genuine hope. I don't like to think that it's hopeless for all humans, after all...we're just a misguided people, is all. ^_^;;
