Addition of Spike in S5
Spike had some interesting moments in Season 5 of Angel. Of all the people to jump to this show after the end of BtVS, he may make the most sense, considering his connection to Angel. But the first half of the season really smacked of pandering to BtVS 'Spike fans' in an effort to make them come and watch the show. It makes me cringe. I really do think that he got WAY to much screen time for basically being a new character to the show. Of course, Alexis Denisof was sidelined the first part of the season due to illness (they couldn't show one side of his face because of Bell's Palsy), but that doesn't explain the rest.
It's almost like the writers figured out what to do with him and the rest of the case mid-season...JUST in time to get the news that they were being canceled. Damn you, WB.
