Horton

"A person's a person, no matter how small he is."

*laughs*

Horton meant that literally; I saw it both ways (: Everyone has a part to play, being part of this world, being on this Earth: in the movie, everyone in WhosVille was doing their best to make noise, to prove to the animals that there was life on that tiny speck. But the animals who wanted to destroy the speck couldn't hear it. Horton asked the Mayor if everyone already giving their best. At that very moment, the mayor glanced around and saw Whos with triumpets blaring, Whos banging on bronze pans, others shouting that they were there. All except JoJo, his son. No matter how loud they were, no one outside the speck except Horton could hear them.

It was only when JoJo later picked up the golden horn and shouted along with the rest of the Whos, did the animals finally hear their existance.

Sometimes we don't see the significance of our very being. But everything we do has a consequence, an after-effect, even though it's hard to really notice at times (:

JoJo's also a figure that represents many kids. A child pressured into living out their parents dreams and expectations. That was why he withdrew, not wanting to speak in fear of disappointing his father. But he was capable was so much more that his father didn't realise until much later. (Go watch the show! :p)

Haha. It reinforced something I watched earlier in the week: Do Education Kill Creativity? By Sir Ken Robinson Interesting food for thought really... I love the way he puts it across with such humor ;)

Anyways! Back to Horton. Is it worth watching? For sure! A very simple animation. Watch it, laugh at the jokes, and enjoy the journey with Horton and the Whos!
