Cordy had spent several days being very busy. Very, very busy indeed. In fact, she was so busy that she had absolutely no time to go talk to Angel. None at all. She was busy arranging and rearranging her office until she was happy with it, then catching up on any important events in the fashion industry she may have missed. She'd spent all of Tuesday shopping for clothes.
And most of Wednesday hiding from Fred so she wouldn't get Angel locked up in a closet. Much like the one she hid in. At least she'd brought a book.
And now she was back to her patented approach of yelling at the ceiling for answers. It wasn't entirely fruitless. Occasionally, the Powers answered her, though usually with only more hazy and bloody visions that were nothing like the horrible devastated future she'd seen before, all too clearly. Every vision they answered her with now came with the message to gather the forces of good and prepare for war. It was getting repetitive.
Lying back on her couch, Cordy once again turned her eyes to the ceiling and took a deep breath, preparing for a good screaming session.
"Alright," she yelled. It wasn't like she could really boss around the Powers That Be, but she was Cordelia Chase, damn it, and she would give it her level best. "You've told me twelve times now to gather the forces of good. We're gathering. There are people here, and you know what they're doing? Filing and playing Scrabble! They're walking around here, trying to find something interesting to do because I can't tell them how best to prepare for this war you keep warning me about. Should they be learning how to fight? Training their magics? Becoming advanced chess masters?" Though the entire speech had been yelled, she piled on some extra volume for effect at the end. "GIVE ME SOME DIRECTION TO POINT THEM IN!"
Cordy sighed and waited. The Powers didn't answer this time.
"Are you as lost as we are or what?" she asked them quietly.
