Hush, Hush Graphic Novel: Introduction

Sep 02, 2012 02:41

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Introduction

I initially set out to spork the novel, but couldn't stand reading that thing. Also, zelda_queen already did a marvellous job sporking it. I'd rather not continue my spork because I read hers, and I think mine would be at least a little influenced by what she already said. Therefore I decided to just pick at the graphic novel adaptation because it's an easier read.

Now about this book. For one, it is SO GODDAMN HARD TO GET MY HAND ON A COPY OF THIS THING. Back when Twilight's graphic novel came out, it was on a huge display right in front of the door. This one? The bookstore doesn't even have it. I checked two local Barnes and Nobles and neither store has it. Both library systems that I know also don't have this book. I had to place an order for a copy at Barnes and Noble for this. Yes, I had to make a special order to get this book. HA! I paid $18 too much, but I'm going to make this worth it.

Just like with Twilight, this was split into several books. I have no idea how long would THIS one be, but we'll see when it comes.

Now, here comes my sporking partners. Say hi to Gyendal Ravenfoot.

  Oh goddess, this book again?
Renoir: No, it's the graphic novel version. You know, with pictures!

How does pictures help the situation, exactly? I have better things to do than reading asinine books with you.
Renoir: Too bad, you're reading this with me. Introduce yourself to the new people!

Gyendal Ravenfoot, daywalker vampire, serving as spy in the Overworld for the Spenjahgra army as penalty for being caught in possession of forbidden artifacts and assisting in plans for ruling the world. I am not happy to be here. Please tell me I have someone to share this agony with.
Renoir: You do. Agas is not available this time around, though. Please welcome Mel Darkthrop, everyone.

What is it this time?

  Hello, Mel.

Urgh... What are you doing here?

Relax, we are not going to do anything kinky. Not where anyone can see anyway.
Renoir: Stop! Chit-chat later. Mel, introduce yourself.

I'm Mel. Hi.

... Eh, that would do I guess. This is me, Renoir. Let's do this.
