Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I just came back from seeing the final movie for the Harry Potter series, and man what a crazy trip.  The movie was as good as I expected and was pretty faithful to JKR's work.  All around not too shabby and it's a nice closure.  It was an amazing journey to see these young kids grow up, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do from here on.

If you were wondering...No, I'm not feeling all that emotional at seeing the "end" of Harry Potter.  [grins] I got over that when the actual book concluded in 2007.  I do find it funny how I still carry some of the issues I had with the series over to the movies.  For instance, I still think Harry should have ended up with Hermione - and the whole Ginny and Harry thing was just there because JKR was pairing Ron and Hermione together.  I mean come on...Harry spent so much time with Hermione...did he even have a single date with Ginny?  I still dislike the epilogue both in the book and the movie.  It's nice that they have kids and all, but what about Harry?  Did they ever go back for their final year?  IS there a wizard version of a GED?  AND NO - I don't think "telling" your readers what happens in later interviews counts...

It's also fun to go back and look at fandom too.  I remember when I was into Draco/Harry.  I use to think Draco was awesome, but then I realized the actual canon!Draco is sort of a git that needs to be drop kicked and that fandom!Draco is made of pure win.  It's amazing the power fandom has.  <3 <3 <3 I had wished that at the final moments of the movie they would have made Draco defect to the good side (source material can be fudged at times...) but alas.....oh well....

So there we go, closing a chapter of my childhood and sticking it into the nostalgia vault.  Wow - what a truly amazing experience...I hope that someday there will be another amazing book series that will encourage younger children to read as much as Harry Potter has.  I mean honestly - what other book do you know has spawned it's own theme park?  AND NO - Disney does not count.... XDDDDD
