Pairings Meme

Mar 31, 2007 14:15

I don't exactly remember where I picked up this meme, but it definitely poses some interesting questions. I used my main 3 fandoms for this: DC comics, Star Wars, and Supernatural.

Six ships you like:
1. Tim Drake/Cassie Sandsmark (DC)
2. Kon-el/Cassie Sandsmark (DC)
3. Lois Lane/Clark Kent (DC)
4. Gar Logan/Raven (DC)
5. Sam Winchester/Ava Wilson (SPN)
6. Jacen Solo/Tenel Ka (SW)

Three ships you used to like, but don't anymore:
7. Dick Grayson/Koriand'r (DC)
8. Anakin Solo/Tahiri Viela (SW)
9. Luke Skywalker/Callista Ming (SW)

Three ships in your various fandoms that you can't stand:
10. Jaina Solo/Jag Fel (SW)
11. Dick Grayson/Cheyenne Freemont (DC)
12. Bruce Wayne/Barbara Gordon (DC)

Two ships you're curious about but haven't actually started shipping:
13. Sam/Madison (SPN)
14. Rose Wilson/Eddie Bloomberg (DC)

1. Why do you dislike #11 so much?
I'm used to seeing Dick in complicated but loving relationships. Dick/Chey is purely physical and it makes me squirm. She could have been an interesting character--a female friend--like Clancy. I am still amused by the idea of Dick having connections to the fashion/modeling industry, but all that these two consist of is Dick running away from personal problems by burying himself in some random redhead's bed. Frankly, it disgusts me.

2. Who is someone you know that ships #13?
I think tenel_ka has a thing for the Sam/Madison, but I'm not certain. She just may have liked that episode for the man-candy factor.

3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3 (even if the show isn't on the air anymore)
My ideal scenario is pretty much played out. Just watch the entire Lois and Clark show. Start with the first episode of season 1 and proceed from there.

4. Which is your favorite episode for #1? Try to pick just one, if you can.
Well, obviously, the only *hint* of remotely romantic inclination between Tim and Cassie would be that Titans issue where they kissed. Outside of that, there's the "Tim's breath smells of curry" reference in Supergirl (the vs. Batgirl issue). Also, in Young Justice when the team is on Apokalips being tortured with visions by Granny Goodness, Tim is ultimately tortured by Cassie's pleas for him to save her. Oh, and of course...the shameless flirting that Tim attempted with her while he was posing as Mr. Sarcastic. "See? See? Little minx can't keep her hands off me..."

5. How long have you been following couple #6?
I've been adoring the Jacen/Tenel Ka wuv since I was...11? 10? Around there, and reading the first books of the Young Jedi Knights series. At any rate, it was well before I even knew what the word "fandom" meant.

6. What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring?
When I was little, I read the Junior Jedi Knights series and loved the friendship between Anakin and Tahiri. Even then, I kinda figured that they were destined for each other romantically, but by the time that happened (years later, both in fandom time and real time), I had been in and out of enthusiasm for Star Wars and upon my return, found that I really didn't care much about either character anymore. I had simply been gone from them for far too long.

7. Which ship do you prefer - #2 or #4?
Kon/Cassie or Gar/Rae? Yeesh. It's hard to find good fanfic for either pairing (no offense to you TTGo folks, I'm talkin' about the comics). I think I'd read a K/C story before a G/R story in fanfic, but I'm more anxious about G/R in cannon than I am about the return of K/C right now.

8. You have the power to make one ship non existent. Choose from #10 or #12.
Eliminate Jaina/Jag or Bruce/Barbara from cannon? Hmmm...Jaina/Jag. It bores me, and it weighs down both the characters. I'd just as soon watch this ship sink. As for Bruce/Barbara, it only happened in the Animated 'verse which I don't pay too much attention to anyhow. It just creeps me out because...well...c'mon! Dating your son's girlfriend? How freaky is that?

9. What interests you about #14?
Rose and Eddie already seem to have a good friendship going and I could see it becoming more. She's a very confident and abraisive person who walks a fine line with her fellow Titans. Eddie, by contrast, is friendly yet insecure, unaware of just how much he is liked by his teammates. They could bring an interesting balance to each other.

10. When did you stop liking #7?
I think Outsiders killed the majority of my Dick/Kory joy. After the Teen Titans/Outsiders arc where Indigo died and Superboy went Lex-crazy, there's this scene where Dick and Kory are tangled together and Dick tells Kory that the only reason he's there with her is because being with her always made him feel alive. Kory is trying to comfort him in light of Indy's death and Shift's depression, but Dick's having none of it and just leaves Kory feeling hurt and alone though he's less than a foot away from her. It seems like Dick transforms into a selfish jerk around poor Kory. The last thing to happen between them seemed to be just physical on Dick's part and even back when they tried to get married, it was all rushed because Dick had a point to prove, not because he or Kory really felt ready. I still like seeing them together in my old issues of Teen Titans, but I get that they wouldn't work nowadays without Dick doing some major soul-searching (and admitting he's been stupid) first.

11. Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the show?
Luke/Callista...kill my SW fandom? By no means! It's just that I became a Luke/Mara fan. And it's a given rule that Luke/Mara lovers are supposed to hate Callista's guts for abandoning Luke.

12. What's a song that reminds you of #5?
I...actually haven't encountered a song that immedietely makes me think Sam/Ava yet. But if I think about it..."I'm Just a Girl" by Gwen Stephani.(sp?) 'Cause Ava thinks of herself as a simple secretary (girl) from Peoria, who wants all this scary supernatural stuff to just let her be. But she *is* lonely...and that's where Sam comes in. ^_~

13. Which of these ships do you love the most?
Tricksy question. Currently, I most obsessed with Tim/Cassie. I'm not at all sure how permanent this ship is for me. I am sure, however, that even if I leave all these fandoms and make some sort of return later or whatever...I am forever a Lois/Clark and Jacen/Tenel Ka fan. I know they endure, because my love for them springs from the nostaligia of my childhood.

14. Which do you dislike the most?
Jaina/Jag most certainly. Dick/Chey and Bruce/Babs practically squick me, but at least they're gone. J/J is like Jean Grey: no matter how many times you kill it, it just seems to keep coming back.

15. If you could have any of these two pairings double date, who would it be?
Probably Kon/Cassie and Gar/Raven. They're in the Titans together, and it would make sense since Cassie and Raven have become good friends. I would be horribly amused to see a Kon/Cassie and Lois/Clark double-date, but I know it would just be too awkward for everyone involved for it to happen.

16. Have #2 kissed yet? Elaborate if you'd like.
Kon and Cassie have kissed a few times, but they no longer do so when Wonder woman is in range. They have learned their lesson in that regard.

17. Did #4 have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely?
Currently, Gar and Raven are broken up. The hearsay is that he became too much like Dick due to stress and Raven became too uncomfortable around the Titans knowing that one of them was a traitor. Things don't look good for them thus far, but the Titans title continues and I would like to retain hope for both of them.

18. What would make you start shipping #13?
For me to rabidly ship Sam/Madison, I would need to see a few things first. I would need to see more of Madison and see her doing something cute and snarky. In my brain, Sam can range from beautiful and angsty to adorable and funny. He would need a girlfriend that could do the same. She can't just be another pretty face; she needs to be a genuine match for Sam.

19. If only one could happen, which would you prefer - #2 or #6?
Kon/Cassie or Jacen/Tenel Ka? Jacen/Tenel Ka. Definitely. Kon is dead, but I find I'm still reading Teen Titans with as much enthusiasm as ever before. But if those SW writers ever did anything to completely wreck any chances of J/TK? I might seriously be tempted to stop reading the series alltogether.

20. You have the power to decide the fate of #10. What happens to them?
Jag/Jaina. Hmmmm...Jag dies. He dies a supremely heroic death in which he saves the entire Solo/Skywalker clan and is mourned as galactic hero. Jaina suffers a near-death experience shortly after (so she doesn't get too much time to mourn/angst) in which she realizes her purpose as the Sword of the Jedi: She is the be the great Jedi leader in an upcoming crisis. She then proceeds to do everything in her power to strenthen and expand her skills, often testing herself in a rigorous fashion.

In the meantime, she pines a bit after Zekk who is totally over her. About this time, Kyp re-enters her life and we discover that he still has feelings for her. She eventually turns her affections over to him and a beautiful, passionate, and short-lived relationship ensues. Then Kyp dies.

Jain falls into an abject depression and nearly wastes away before her old friend Zekk comes to comfort and uplift her. His friendship proves invaluable, and he helps support her as she leads during the great time of crisis. During a battle, she nearly loses him, and as he recovers, they re-discover their love for one another. With Zekk's help, Jaina triumphs over evil and they eventually marry and go on to have many more adventures with one another as they slowly grow old and gray.

(Originally, I was gonna lj-cut this, but I figured...meh. I'll lj-cut it if it actually bothers somebody. Not like it's image-heavy or anything.)
