surfs up!

Today wasn't totally useless. It seemed like it would be at first since the weather wasn't too great. Wasn't too cold but really cloudy. I woke up at 630 coughing up my lungs. I was in the mood for ice cream but figured McDonald's wasn't going to serve me it that early so I decided to just get an egg mcmuffin but turns out its like $5-6. I decided that was too much and started looking for bakeries that had cinnamon buns. Of course none did. So I decided on Krispy Crème but it was $2.50 for a regular glazed one sooo, I kept on walking. I finally decided on a place called Bread Top. I had a mini muffin for 75cents and a cinnamon raisin thing for $1.80. they were pretty good.
So then I talked to my mom for a bit on skype. By that time the sun looked like it was trying to peek out so I decided I was going to go surf today. I walked 30 min to get to the ferry and paid $14 for a round trip to the beach. Of course it looked like it was going to rain while I was waiting for the boat to get there. I wasn't sure if they cancel lessons and I figured we'd be getting wet anyways that I would still check it out (plus I had already pd for the non-refundable ferry ride) I got there a bit early so I had to sit and wait. As I was waiting, the wind felt colder and colder. I was imagining myself not wanting to get into the water anymore but then my day would be wasted so I sucked it up. I put on the wet suit and paid $50 for the hour lesson. It would have been $60 but I'm the coupon queen. There was supposed to be 3 other people in the lesson but they didn't show up so I basically got a private lesson for the group cost. Which is awesome because a private lesson is normally 1 hour for $90! Once we got going he told me that we can stay out for an hour and 20 minutes! So that was pretty awesome. I rode a few waves. He said I did a good job for my first time but don't they always tell beginners that so they'll come back and get another lesson? Probably. The water wasn't too bad since we wore wet suits. Its pretty hard though getting yourself situated out there and getting ready to catch a wave! I give surfers props because its not easy. I defiantly fell a few times, including 1 nose dive. Afterward I got my picture taken with the board and with the instructor. I didn't think to bring a change of clothes so I had to walk back with my bathing suit on and a shirt/shorts over. I used my semi dry towel to cover my arms since it was still windy, making me freeze. Once I got back to my hostel, I took a hot shower and warmed right up:)
