Great catch on linking "It all started with a girl" with Darla. And I'm looking forward to this more and more myself. I just hope Illyra shows up on a cover preview soon. Her one stand-alone issue was my favorite of the old Angel comics. Really stood above the rest.
Wasn't that big a fan of the first Angel covers, but the Spike ones picked up read good.

And I'm looking forward to this more and more myself. Same here. :)

Wasn't that big a fan of the first Angel covers, but the Spike ones picked up read good. Oh I liked the darkness/destruction of the first ones. But the Urru Spike one is just too gorgeous for words...
I do love the way you can tease these things out, and yes there are layers. That's what happens when a writer and artist team understand each other so well.
I'm not sold on the dragon yet (give me time) but the rest of it - yes I agree, it was totally Angel in every way.

I'm not sold on the dragon yet (give me time) Well, the dragon is *too* awesome - I was relieved to find out that it'll be recurring, because I was worried it'd disappear/be killed off. But for now it is something that can keep Angel grounded - he does need *something*.
but the rest of it - yes I agree, it was totally Angel in every way. Angel can be tricky to pull off, but this reassured be greatly that Lynch might be able to!
I agree. Actually, that's my problem with it. However, I'm not going to be more than a little dubious until I've actually read the book - or even several issues of the book, because it might take me a while to decide whether I think it works or not.
I love the nods to previous episodes, and the classic Angel scenes and dialogue. It all makes it tie in, and does seem like a continuation for the series from where we left it off in NFA.
There has been consequences from Angel's actions, and people are paying the price. Of course Angel has to suffer the most, but then he has to travel the most in the issues. He is the title character after all.
I feel it will be as dark and adult as the series was, and that is what I loved about it.

Really looking forward to the release. ::is impatient::
Loved you thoughts on girls in the alleys, and yes - Darla, I forgot about her! I think it was you who first mentioned girls in alleys, so thank you. :)
But what's also neat is that it's a bit of a shout-out to Brian's Spike comics. I almost mentioned that too, but figured I'd better try to stay on topic...
As for Fred and Angel's guilt about her - I was telling myself "yess, yes, yes" when reading the preview. Hee! Nothing to say to all your clever Fred thoughts except I agree very much.
As for the dragon - I love the dragon! (see icon :)) Also for a metaphore of Angel taming and using his own darkness, which was so strong in the end of Angel-5. Oooooh that's a GREAT point. Can't believe I didn't think of that! But yes, it's the perfect metaphor. :)
AtS was really a feast for a woman's eye (umm, and Lindsey too...). :) Indeed. And right there is my most shallow reason for liking ATF more than S8! ;)
Also made me think of Gunn and Angel in Underneath, where Angel urges Gunn to use his lawyer brain
( ... )
You nailed a bunch of stuff. This pleases me immensely. *waits impatiently for November*
Thank you thank you for taking the time to do this. Means a lot. My pleasure! :) (It's called obsession, and I totally can't help it!)
Oh and - on the off chance you see this comment - as preparation for what you might expect once ATF takes off, here's a link to The Educated Fangirl's Guide To The Spike Wars (written pre-S5 of Angel), since it is the best example I know of the wildly varying spins fans can put on the same story (notice how Marti Noxon is hated by both Spike-lovers and Spike-haters). As I'm sure you can imagine, there are similar fans for all the other characters. Expect reactions from all factions for every character and storyline you do. (Oh and don't let Joss talk you into any silly ret-cons, OK?)
