Loved you thoughts on girls in the alleys, and yes - Darla, I forgot about her! But of course for Angel it's really started with her.
But what's also neat is that it's a bit of a shout-out to Brian's Spike comics. They too start with a girl, with Spike rescueing a girl. Only his girls were in bars, not in alleys. Hmm....

As for Fred and Angel's guilt about her - I was telling myself "yess, yes, yes" when reading the preview. It's so obvious after rewatching of Angel-5 how much of that season focused on Fred, on her role as an innocent one and the moral compass of the group, and the one to pay the ultimate price for their corruption. We are up to Origin now in our DVD club and it's all so fresh and in your face. Angel feels that he bought Connor's life with Fred's. Wesley calls him out on it, Gunn shares the guilt with him and vice versa - they both signed some papers, made some deals with W&H, one of which brought in sarcofagus and another one brought Fred. And to make it even more in your face - yes, Angel did it for Connor because Connor was his son. But how often in this season we are reminded that Fred is someone's daughter?
And Angel makes his mind on making Fred's death matter by picking up her mission, her belief that they went to W&H to use its resources for the good fight. As Fred said: "That's my power - not let them take me", i.e. not to be corrupted by W&H, not to give in. So Angel took a stand... I love how we get to the heart of this matter right from the start. And that also gives hope that Fred in Illyria would play some role in this tale.

As for the dragon - I love the dragon! (see icon :)) Also for a metaphore of Angel taming and using his own darkness, which was so strong in the end of Angel-5.
And that smile on Angel's face - oh yeah! And let's not forget that this is the medium res preview. It will look so much better on the real page! I know that from experience of looking at other Franco's previews. :)
And how beautiful is Angel here, on those panels? A bit of heart stopper, aint't he? I'm even a bit jealous for Spike now as Angel is prettier here than Spike in Asylum/SP. But the Franco's cover for #2 gives me hope that ante will be upped for Spike as well. They truly are a stunning pair. :) And Gunn, and Wes - those are gorgeous men too, in their own right. Can't wait to see them (if we'll have a chance). AtS was really a feast for a woman's eye (umm, and Lindsey too...). :)

"I'm a good person. I'm a lawyer" - yes, such a loaded phrase. Also made me think of Gunn and Angel in Underneath, where Angel urges Gunn to use his lawyer brain and reminds him that he is "a good man".

And the apocalipse thing... Yeah. We still don't know what's going on exactly. Is L-A really in hell, is it personal Angel's Matrix created by W&H, is it L-A from another dimension, with bunch of people sucked in there just to make Angel feel guilty?
And yes, it's so Angel - stoically cleaning up his own mess, helping as much as he can. And not sharing, again. Again thinking to protect people from the horrible truth - by withholding vital info from them. Same thing over and over again.

Whoa. Now *that's* a comment!

I think it was you who first mentioned girls in alleys, so thank you. :)

But what's also neat is that it's a bit of a shout-out to Brian's Spike comics.
I almost mentioned that too, but figured I'd better try to stay on topic...

As for Fred and Angel's guilt about her - I was telling myself "yess, yes, yes" when reading the preview.
Hee! Nothing to say to all your clever Fred thoughts except I agree very much.

As for the dragon - I love the dragon! (see icon :)) Also for a metaphore of Angel taming and using his own darkness, which was so strong in the end of Angel-5.
Oooooh that's a GREAT point. Can't believe I didn't think of that! But yes, it's the perfect metaphor. :)

AtS was really a feast for a woman's eye (umm, and Lindsey too...). :)
Indeed. And right there is my most shallow reason for liking ATF more than S8! ;)

Also made me think of Gunn and Angel in Underneath, where Angel urges Gunn to use his lawyer brain and reminds him that he is "a good man".
Good catch. Yes, lawyers can be good people too.

And the apocalipse thing... Yeah. We still don't know what's going on exactly.
Which is good. I approve of mysteries very much.

And yes, it's so Angel - stoically cleaning up his own mess, helping as much as he can. And not sharing, again. Again thinking to protect people from the horrible truth - by withholding vital info from them. Same thing over and over again.
I love Angel entirely too much. A big part of his appeal is his flaws.
