You know how I feel about the comics (as in, Agree-to-Disagree-ville), but this makes me wish that they had put a fraction of the craft and care in this poem into them; then I might have actually liked them. Beautifully done.
haha I understand. Tbh, I feel like I've gone through the rollercoaster of mixed feelings about Season 8. I just still find some worthwhile provoking material there, and I can still understand Buffy, which is where my heart is always. But I will never argue for perfect execution -- or even ~good execution, especially when it comes to the Twilight arc. (Srsly, my posts during the release of those comics is so rage-filled and wow.)

And the final issue "A lot of people hate me...all girls" having to fight other Slayers in the alley, etc - that just broke my heart, so much. I had issues with the spell in Chosen (yeah, some big questionable issues about personal agency there, and performing the spell without the permission of the girls in the room - I don't think JW got that at the time, was just going for the emotional gusto), but to take the bit of it I could at least enjoy emotionally - women connected, claiming and sharing power without the permission of men - and completely subvert it, turn it around and tell me it was bad bad bad bad Buffy - and oh yeah, a girl fight in the alley? With her own "daughters"? (I keep repeating myself, but Buffy - with Faith and Willow - "sired" those girls.) Who btw are actually quite justified in their rage, if Buffy in the story boinked the big bad over the bodies of other dead girls

More, please! I love your thinky-thoughts! Your view of Buffy is very much my own, and yes, it fits so well with the double-standards women have to live up to.
And I love your icon - "Life Serial" is one of my favorite S6 episodes - and the whole retail sequence is just GOLD. (And I've done retail - it's actually not all that unrealistic, just exaggerated.)
